As I said above, having the world's greatest boxer in your face telling you you ain't shit is threatening for most people, let alone an elderly man.
If you saw a young, ripped guy on a bus facing up to an old man and telling him he wasn't shit you wouldnt' see that as threatening?
He should be heavily fined by both the boxing commission and HBO imo.[/QUOTE]
The difference is that the old man on the bus would be on his own and would be worried not b the shouting but by the potential violence that could follow. Merchant in the ring surrounded by people he knows and live on television knows that Floyd is not going to touch him. Indeed, he clearly feels no fear for his own physical safety as he is trappy enough to threaten to kick Floyd's ass - hardly the actions of a threatened and terrified old man.
The only actual threat that was made during that exchange was by Merchant and you should remember age is not an excuse for bad behaviour and people who are old are not automatically nice. My wife's grandmother was a horrible person her whole life and only got nastier the older she got. Behaviour and knowledge earns respect not just staying alive.
That said, Floyd did himself no favours with the tirade.
