Default What was Merchant on about?

In the 6th round of the Pavlik fight, Kelly had knocked Miranda down.
Miranda spat out his mouthpiece and Merchant became irate when Smoger took him to the corner to insert the mouthpiece back in. Screaming the ref was taking away Pavlik's chance at the KO.

What was Smoger supposed to do?
Not allow the mouthpiece to be reinserted?
I believe Smoger took a point for intentional spitting of the mouthpiece but waited 'til the end of the round to inform the judges as not to delay the action any longer than necessary to give Miranda more time to recover.
So what was Merchant complaining about at the time?
    Someone enlighten me!

I think at first Merchant didn't realise what was going on. He thought the ref was just talking to Miranda.

That's a guess, Meowza. I'm with you though he was unjustifiably bitter. He is a commontater and he sounded like Pavlik's grandfather.

    Ahhhh that sounds about right.
It was even hard to make out the mouthpiece falling out from the close-up shot.

Actually I'm checking the fight again right now, and Lampley explains that the mouthpiece came out.
And after that WHILE Smoger is putting the mouthpiece into Miranda's mouth, Merchant is shouting, "What is Smoger doing?? He's blowing this fight for Pavlik! This is incompetence!" when it's clear there was a mouthpiece situation. And he keeps going on shortly after the fight resumes as well so he must know about the mouthpiece at that point.
    Strange.

I thought Merchant was right on the money tonight. When he mentioned those fighters who fought for the worst fighter ever, I thought, -well he is trying to show HBO he can still deliver the goods.

i think what ended up happeneing was that smoger took a point bt waited until between rounds so he wouldnt waiste more time by taking a point, and when merchant realized that he seemed to STFU

i think merchant expected smoger to wave the fight off so taylor would be able to fight sooner and have a chance to get his cock into all 3 commentators moths as apparentley merchant ois lasyt in line

he knew of the mothpiece at the time of the knockdown, he thought it should have been an instant stoppage as he kibnd of spit it out after he got up, but merchants comments on this noight were 100% irrelevant and that can be determined by 1 thing he said...

the man actually said he 'loves dibella' the shittiest promoter alive, i think warren is better then dibella, at least warren can convince the hometown crowd his man is good, noone even showed up tonight and those who did started chanting corey
