Mayweather beat Marquez by a landslide, but it was a dodgy fight in terms of Marquez not being a WW and Mayweather not meeting his side of the deal.

The Marquez who fought Manny a year ago would have done far better against Mayweather and definitely so against this older Mayweather. Mayweather has lost his legs now. Marquez bulked up properly and acclimatised to the weight. In other words Marquez had learned from the Mayweather fight and done his homework better.

The argument I have here is simply that I don't consider Mayweather the best active fighter in the world as he is a part time boxer. I have no issues with the Marquez/Mayweather fight result, but do believe Marquez is far better than the result suggests and I proffer the reasons of acclimatisation and cheating as partial explanations.

That fight is what it is though. Prior to this Manny was the best fighter in the world and he has been destroyed.
I think a Mayweather/Marquez fight would be a much more competitive affair at this point. I'd pay to see it
You won't let Marquez have his retirement will you?

Anyway folks, that's me done for the day too. A lot of posting, a lot of nerves, and just a brilliant result in the end. Full props to Marquez, but also commiserations too to Manny Pacquaio. He has been on the recieving end of my verbal sword for many years now and though delighted to see Marquez stop him, it was a very brutal stoppage. What goes around comes around, and it just is what it is. Pac had seemed like a rock in recent years, but he is just human after all. He is a proud man and won't have taken the stoppage well at all. I hope he will be okay.

Still, this is the moment for Marquez and I hope he enjoys it to the max. Over and out.

I'm a filipino, pac fan but i'm a marquez fan as well. A boxing fan above everything else. It's very heart breaking to see the nation's boxing hero destroyed like that. I've got to give it to marquez, that's a mean right straight and he was really setting up for it. Ever since the 3rd fight, it was apparent that marquez had pac's number. Marquez trained really hard and really is the more technical guy. The more rounds these guys fought, the bigger chance marquez has of beating pac. Pac was only winning in the first fights because of sheer skill, not boxing prowess. Congrats to marquez and props to pac for losing humbly. Time to retire these two legends and thanks for the great fights.

Hehe - I just hate to see a fighter of his caliber ride off into the sunset. He is truly one of the best technicians I have ever seen, and it doesn't seem like he got the respect he deserves throughout most of his career. If he wants to call it a day, I'll be the first one to offer congratulations and say that he is a first ballot HOF'er without any doubt whatsoever. But then again, if he wants to do it one more time, I think he still has enough in the tank to make for at least one more legendary fight.

The same dope Pac has been using for years. Pac would not take the f_cking test spells free pass for JMM to do the same.

Inuit is telepathic, that can be the only explanation.
Everyone knows that Canadians are gifted with intelligence and insight far beyond that which is possessed by other mortals.
    So true.
I can't argue! If Fenster ever catches on, IamInuit is going to have new bestest friend.

Not only did JMM KTFO of Pac he KTFO out of the white non boxing background HBO broadcasters that have totally disrepected JMM the previous three fights by not announcing JMM punches /body shots. It was hilarious to see them speechless at the end of this fight. They could have highlighted JMM's feat instead they still ran over to get Pac's perspective. Seems only Roy Jones was willing to credit JMM . Pac hugging ...... RIP . It was a good run but the Mexicans have their sport back !

End of an era indeed. Ever since Pacquiao brought up leg cramps a year or so ago I knew his explosiveness was done and when an athletic fighters legs are gone they go the way of RJJ. Rapid disgusting decline.

Well my favourite mexican of this generation won and I'm happy but I never blamed Pacqiuao for getting the nod the first three fights, they were competitive after all. Time for him to hang it up after all he's no doubt an all time great, a hero of a nation and one hell of a fighter. Also JMM..god damn I bow before you.

Pacquiao has been done for the past 12 months, this is the clincher. He should retire before some bum beats him. Marquez was never going to lose this fight and it's a decisive win. Pacman is through.

I thought the fight could have been stopped later on if it continued due to JuanMa's broken nose or JuanMa could have rested for a round or two and continued to box smart but Manny wanted to steal the round with the last 10 seconds of each round and he got carelss and opened himself for a counterpunch right that destroyed that chin. Manny didn't even put his hands in front of him as he went down face first. All we heard was a big KABOOM!

Having rewatched it, Marquez was better than I initially thought. Manny Pac always scares to death with his movement and quite frankly Marquez is a far cooler customer than most of us watching him fight. I watched it live as just pure nerves. On rewatching you can sit down calm knowing that you've seen the moves all before.

    I score it.
    Round 1 - Pac 10-9
    Round 2 - Pac 10-9
    Round 3 - Marquez 10-8
    Round 4 - Marquez 10-9
    Round 5 - Pac 10-9
Round 6 - Fight ends by

Manny wanted to please, got sloppy and ultimately that led to him making a fatal mistake and you cannot do that with Marquez. It really was stupid of Pac to go mental at the end of the round like that. There was no need. Just kamikaze and the kind of thing we chided Hatton for doing.

Shocked at this news. Pac Man is finished no need for any further fights.

Are you drunk again? I've been a member here for 3 1/2 years and I think this is the first time you've somewhat praised or given credit to Pacquiao.

Anyways, it was a great shot by JMM. It reminds me of when Hearns ko Duran. Just a massive shot and the opponent falling down face forward.

I'm sure you tube will show it before then.
