Is Stieglitz the real deal or is Abe just a chump now?
Is Stieglitz the real deal or is Abe just a chump now?
Its tough to say really, Abraham usually does start slow and he just got overwhelmed, there was no way Stieglitz could have maintained that pace for the whole fight, he threw so many punches with intent and he landed a really big right hand that made Abrahams eye completely close. Abraham wanted to carry on but his trainer said no. Abraham would want a rematch because he knows he could do better than that, but he is getting old and has had a lot of tough fights now so maybe he is coming to the end of his career. I dont think Abraham like everybody else expected Stieglitz to start so fast and that was deciding factor in the fight really.
I take nothing away from Stieglitz though he did what he had to do and he won every round easily and Abraham had a point taken off too for hitting round the back of the head a couple of times at least. Who knows who he will fight now, I think Groves-Stieglitz would be a cracking fight though if that could happen.
Great performance. Karma just turned up and smacked Abraham in the eye. He has had so many rounds undeservedly given to him over the years it was refreshing for someone to take it out of the hands of the judges. A hard man but taking rounds off is b/s, and so someone finally throws the kitchen sink at him and it pays off handsomely. He was nowhere near the hype job that is Helenius but still, he was IMHO Highly overrated. Well done Stiieglitz, you got exactly what you deserved. Brave but clever game plan.

As I thought Abraham wants the rematch and Stieglitz is up for it as well, Abraham said he was going to start picking up the pace after the fourth. I think this fight will happen.
Just watched it. Suprised how Stieglitz literally walked through him. Solid ass whooping
On a sidenote if I never hear Lou Dibella do blow by blow again...its a great thing!!
Have never been impressed with Abraham and have always thought of him as a 6 to 9 minute fighter. I'll never forget that first Miranda fight. It was not just the broken jaw and the fact that the ref saved his ass but the fact that he was out boxed by Edison Miranda. I thought he might have the edge with Stieglitz just because he was Calzaghes mandatory prior to Joe dropping the Ibf belt at 168.
I've never been a fan either and never got past the Smurf hat when I first saw him...but fighting on not opting out and taking flush power shots and headbutts when his jaw was literally hanging off his head vs Miranda gets bookoo repect but thats just me. That was flat gruesome
Round 2 I think it was looked to be round of the year. The fight was really heating up then Abraham's eye closed and he quit. Surprised me as he fought on with a broken jaw against Miranda years ago, showing great heart.
His eye was closed shut though.
I think there should be a third fight.
Helenius continued his lil baby steps comeback after his unofficial loss to Chisora. Sprott clocked him a few good ones. Did himself proud.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Wish I'd put on that bet now. I just thought Stieglitz would win it this time. Abraham is not the same fighter at 168lb. His defence seems a little easier to break too.

I thought it was a head butt that did the damage. The punch was to the jaw (you can see by the way Art's head spun) the the head comes in just at the right angle.
Sprott is a disappointment. Never EVER tried hard enough.

There's definitely going to be a third fight, probably next. It's the biggest money option for both of them. Who wins? If Abraham's eye hadn't closed up would he have come back in that fight?
Stieglitz jumped on the notoriously slow starter and got to him early with a bunch of clean, hard shots.
Solid asswhipping.
