What about Pacquaio. A tiny pacman had cotto running all over the ring like a little stooge.

And a healthy margarito took everything from cotto. His perfect record and his manhood.
If memory serves me correct Miguel didn't have a trainer for that fight. Margarito had loaded wraps FACT...and thankfully, THANKFULLY Margarito's career is over due to the beatings he took after he was not allowed to load up the gloves again. Fuck that piece of shit
    Great post.

    Can't stand Antonio.

First Cotto could beat Canelo, and now Cotto is shot and needs to retire?

I somewhat agree. Cotto seems on a career end slowdown looking for big paydays. If he was serious he would prove himself a MW against GGG. I don't think he wants the toughest fights, he wants the biggest pay day for the easiest fights. He is cashing out.

The thread is about whether Cotto should retire and whether he is "shot".

The fact of the matter is, Cotto is a little shop-worn. He's taken some pretty good punishment throughout some very tough fights in his career. He's on the declining side of what has been an HOF career, and one has to wonder how much is left in the tank. On the other hand, he has surprised people on more than one occasion with his resiliency and his ability to reinvent himself. People didn't give him much of a chance against the likes of Judah and Mosley, saying he was too slow, and not a good enough boxer. He proved people wrong on both counts. He's salvaged victory from defeat, as in his classic brawl with puncher Ricardo Torres. He gave Floyd one of his toughest fights in recent years, and people are talking about a possible rematch. He has adapted his style on more than one occasion, and done a good job of it.

So can Cotto surprise people once again? Who's to tell?
I know I'll be rooting for him.

Cotto has had a great career, but for me it doesn't have the same focus it had at WW which was his peak. The Mayweather showing was very good, but otherwise I question the opposition. On paper the win over Martinez is significant, but many were questioning the legs beforehand, so it was arguably cynical. If Cotto wants to be a MW then fine, beat some MW's, but I don't think he's a MW and he probably knows that. A Canelo fight would be a big test and would answer any questions about Cotto. Cotto isn't shot, but the beatings he is taken and the strange Trout loss make you wonder. The Martinez fight didn't really prove anything other than Martinez himself is shot.

I've called Cotto shot also. Then he kicked the crap out of Martinez, and yes I know Sergio was also being called shot but fuck all respect is due where respect is due. Cotto has accumulated as much damage as Pinocchio shadow boxing a wood chipper but I just can't dog pile like that after thrashing Sergio. He is still fluid and winning..but I do thing he is also a marked man. He's also a diva who understands one last time

Well Cotto is the champ for once in the division never was able to do it in others but who would of thought it would of been at mw. He not going to fight GGG so cash out and get the fuck on i guess.

Its pac or cotto 2 for floyd in may.

Cotto was nearly knocked out in the last fight with floyd and I cant really see it going any different with the rematch especially now floyd is back with floyd sr.

Cotto is cashing out so its canelo or floyd for him in may.. And he would have a much better chance against canelo at this stage of his career.

He showed sparks of the old him, he's definitely not shot even though being him, I'd retire after so many hard fought fights. A good late life before glory, in my case.

    Certainly.

The truth is he is past his peak, while the other guy is rising and is much younger. I see your point, brock.
