Witter would outbox Hatton. He is at his best and has been very immpressive in his last couple fights. He isnt a big name but he is a elite fighter imo.

all bullshit! Hatton isnt ducking him in the slightest and has even said bring Witter on as soon as he gets more of a name for himself. Hes a nobody. If Lynes can nearly beat him I honestly think a world class fighter like Ricky would destroy him.

IMO Hatton should take the Witter fight and get it over with, it would be a huge fight in Britain and make him as much money as he would ever get fighting Malignaggi in the States. The US is not the only country in the world capable of staging big fights and sustaining a mega interest, Hatton V Witter would have this site bursting at the seams. I don't believe Hatton is ducking Witter but he better make a decision soon on what he wants to do, he came into the PBF fight at 145lb so it appears 140 won't be a stretch, fighting Cotto, Margarito or Williams is out of the question at 147 so a Witter fight makes the most sense at this point. He could fight Witter in the first half of 2008 and go onto two more fights by the end of the year in the States, Malignaggi and Diaz will still be there for him then. I just hope the loss to PBF has not damaged him mentally and he can rebound unlike NAZ.

Hatton has no reason to fight Witter. You could put the krankies in front of Ricky and the fight would be a sell out. Witter has no name, no selling point and, more importantly, no support. This is why he has been hanging on to Ricky's coat tails for the past seven years. If you want proof, look at the post-fight interview with Ricky and Jon Thaxton after their fight for the British title. Ricky had a terrible cut, Thaxton had been knocked from pillar to post, and still Witter had to try to antagonise Ricky. He should have had more respect. Hatton would win a clear points victory over Witter; the first few rounds would be interesting, but I think Hatton might be able to figure Witter out.

I don't doubt for a second that Hatton would beat Witter, i think he would stop him inside 8 rounds but for F**** sake fight him, get it over with, take the money and move on.
Witter has not lost for seven years so he has proved himself and it would be a great boost to Hatton's career and mindset to win a big fight at home against a fellow countryman.

I have always been a masive Hatton fan for the way he fights and his take on all challengers attitude.

But I think now is the time to face Witter.Hatton could make a ton of money by fighting a nobody in any football stadium in the UK.Witter is at least a name and he has the wbc belt.
If Calzaghe can get 35000 in a ground to watch him fight Manfrado then Hatton Witter has got to be money spinner.

Witter has lay down the challenge and its getting a little bit embarrassing the fact that Hatton has so far refused to fight him.I hope Ricky does the right thing and steps up to meet the challenge.

Thats the thing though, Witter isnt a name...Hes got a belt and thats about it. He needs a name on his record and thats why the fight with PM should happen. If Witter wins that, then i can say with full confidence he deserves his shot at Hatton.

To the Hatton supporters I say this, you guys are starting to sound like floyd fans saying Hatton doesn't need to fight him and he would beat him easily when in reality, there's no way for you to know that for sure. Witter doesn't have to prove anything else to make people fell like he deserves a chance. You guys just don't want to hear Witter fans say I told you so if Hatton loses to him.

I respect your devotion and affection for your fighter but right now at Junior WW, Witter is THE guy to beat.

In the letter Ricky posted he advised that he was going to fight next in the UK after taking some time off.

So who will he fight then.

Junior Witter has no fight lined up but believe Castillo is his mandatory although I may be mistaken.
D-Hop has no fight lined up but what will he gain by fighting him.
Castillo he already beat and as mentioned above I believe that he is Witters mandatory.
Torres has a fight lined up for Feb
Paulie fight would make sense for MSG later in the year
Gavin Rees is fighting Kotelnik and will most likely loose.

I believe the that does not leave many options for Ricky unless he announces his decision about March.

For this country if he is not fighting Witter then he is left with Holt, Kotelnik/ Rees, D-Hop or Torres to pick up a belt.

Witter could scupper this by going for one of these as well if Castillo is not his mandatory

Carlos Mauser was not a name nethier was the last bloke Hatton fought for the ibf belt but the fights were still made.

Witter is more of a name than those 2 and it would be as big a fight in the uk as any other apart from a superstar like De La Hoya.

All i know about Witter is he got owned by Juhda and that is it i think PM has just as much of a chance as Witter at beating Hatton and they are fighting so if Hatton is fighting PM whoi is on Witter level if not better how is he afriad of Witter.

    A long time ago.

Correct me if I am wrong but did't that Juhda guy get sparked by a Russian sounding Austrailan?

But that has not stopped Juda getting big fights.

Well didnt Hatton get critism for taking those fights? After the Tszyu fight everybody thought he would take on Harris because he was the next big name. On the mayweather-Gatti undercard he got KTFO! against Maussa and thats why I think he took that fight. The Urango fight is a fight I didnt agree with and I can agree with you saying if Ricky faught them two, why doesnt he fight Witter.

But I think now after the Mayweather fight hes all in it for the money and hes even admitted that himself. So I dont think he wants to go down these no money earning routes anymore. Its hard to say really. But ill see it again, as soon as Witter gets that one more name on his record I believe he gets a Hatton fight.

Well stated. I totally agree...but in the end it boils down to this for me.

Here's the thing...I have 3 questions for Hatton fans to answer on the subject of Witter :

#1 : If Witter's going to just lay down & let Hatton walk over him like a doormat (which is basically the jist of what Hatton's camp & fans have been saying) why not just walk over him?

#2 : Why not take the bout that won't be a battle & get the strap? Nothing to lose at this state of the game, IWHO.

#3 : If Witter is the bitter rival...the hated nemesis that Hatton & company have always stated that he is...why not give him the fame that they say he's been trying to steal from Hatton & give it to him via a brutally destructive knockout? It might rebuild some of the Hatton myth that Floyd just tore to shreds.

Could the answer be that Team Hatton actually see's something in Witter?

Yeah this fight needs to happen .

It will be a massive injustice to the world of boxing if these two dont meet before retirement . I also think Witter has a much better chance than the average fan gives him .
