He's an Idiot. He lost to Vargas and whined. He beat to blown up welters, a way smaller Mosley who was on a huge losing streak, and beat a retired Trinidad who had no gameplan.
He refused a DLH fight.
He lost to overrated J.Taylor.
Lost to Hopkins, no shame there.
And just turned down the two other biggest fights out there.
I cant say I blame him for not taking on Mikkel Kessler - that would be career suicide
Super Middleweight also acknowledge as Kessler's Kingdom when Calzaghe has retire
When did Winky turn down a ODH fight? I read a few interviews with him after the Hopkins fight where he was calling out ODH, but Oscar said he wouldn't fight him. IMO Winky would school Oscar.Originally Posted by jangeorg
are you blind? He easily was beating Vargas, and he easily deserved the win against Taylor, it was close, but not that close. He lost a close fight against B-Hop when he was fighting a weight class weight higher for him than Quartey coming up to face him. Also beating Mosley that close to his prime is still beating Mosley, the only problem I have with that is Oscar beat him worse in their fight right before and still lost the decision.Originally Posted by Mr140
Well i am not the only one that thinks Vargas won and he did not easly when any of those fights at all that why he lost. And Molsey was way out of his weight class at 154 with the way he fights. Stop acting like what you say is the truth because it was close either way it was no way a easy decsion.
You wanna know why nobody wants to fight him.one word.BORING.
nobody wants to fight them because almost all can be assured defeat. Unless it is way up in weight.

I think fighters like Winky who are hard to beat and have near to zero drawing power will alwais have big problems getting the fights they want. Add to that that Wright has little KO power and a style that is very hard to judge since it revolvs around blocking punches and letting your opponent wear himself out and you got a guy that won't get many close dicisions.
I feel for Wright since he has been close to the top many times and then lossed close dicisions as he made the top tier. I'm not going to debate whether he should've won or loss those fights. They were all close fights, non of them were robberies, and a guy like Wright is more often than not, gona get the short end of the stick.
Fact is Winky was lucky to have been there at the time when too big names (Mosley and Tito) had recently lossed and were looking for a respectable belt holder to get their names back on top. Then after he finally makes it to the top he finds himself in another close fight with Taylor and got the short end of the stick again.
To be honest I was suprised he got a shot at Hopkins after that. He is just not marketable and by now has sufered too many set backs and is just too late to get back on top again. I don't see him getting another big fight for a good long time and by the time he gets it he will be too passed it to make anything out of it.
Besides, my sister use to work at a casino boat of St Pete. FL and met him and she told me he was an A-hole with a capital A...![]()
I am surprised that he is an Asshole? Is your sister a nice person?

Anyway this was like a week or two after the Trinidad fight and really what whe meant is that he was being extreemly arrogant and full of himself... but really who could blame him at the time.
In other words, even though she did say that, I did not pay it no mind and I only posted that as a joke.
Rookiefan,Wright always come across arrogant in interviews imo. If your sis says it,she won't be the last. Heck, this thread right here, the manner in which he is questioning AA and Kessler,is kind of arrogant too.I couldn't stand his cry baby antics after the JT match.
I hope Winky just gets destroyed by someone and retire he old news need some new blood.
Totally disagree Vargas vs Winky was very razor thin close, Vargas come on strong in later rounds throwing like 90+ punches if i remember right and Vargas earned a draw on my card. Sorry but if you think Winky easily beat Vargas then you are the one that is blind or maybe i misread that let me know if you reply. And as for Taylor vs Winky another close fight that i had Winky winning but mostly every boxing fan had that razor thin close fight, sorry Taeth you make good points but just because someone has different opinion to you doesn't make them wrong, if they had Taylor and Vargas winning then thats fair enough its not like they were clear cut wins for Wright both fights were very close.Originally Posted by Taeth
And one last thing i disagree with is that Mosley was was close to his prime against Wright, i totally disagree with that Mosley was above his natural weight class and was coming off 2 bad losses to Wright and a controversial win vs ODLH in which i didn't think he looked impressive. Now i don't think it would of mattered if Mosley was in his peak i just think Wright had his number, but Mosley was in a slump for quite awhile in his career it was during 1st Forrest fight in which he seemed to have badly been effected by the head butt. And also the battering off Forrest didn't help his confidence either, i think Mosley regained some of his old form when he fought Collazo and sparked out Vargas in the rematch.
winky needs to realise he ain't a big draw, you want the big fights you gonna have to earn them
Agreed, Like I said, Wright was lucky to get a chance with two big names in a row because they were both coming out of losses and/or retirement and needed a legit champion to get them back on track. All respect for Winky in stepping up and spoiling their plans. By the time Winky was done with Mosley mosley was 1 - 4 with 1 no contest in his last 6 fights. And as ICE said, that one win was very controversial.Originally Posted by Ice Cold Boxing
