    Mike Tyson beat a CRUISERWEIGHT

I am real about Tyson....he beat NO great fighters. If Frank Bruno can rock Tyson then George could knock him out easily.

I think you underestimate Big George...yeah there are a number of guys that George intimidated. Frazier wasn't one of them as he was willing to die in the ring. Ken Norton (who beat Ali), George Chuvalo, Gerry Cooney, Michael Moorer.

Hell Evander Holyfield complained about how hard Foreman hit, what has he said about Tyson? He said Foreman's jab was like being hit with a telephone pole and Foreman hit him so hard it made Evander's teeth rattle.

Foreman was a bigger, badder, meaner, STRONGER version of Mike Tyson. Look what Sonny Liston did to Floyd Patterson....similar style match up and that's the way I would see it happening. PLUS George could take a punch too AND he could get up off the canvas and win by KO. He got nailed by Ron Lyle and then the next thing you know Ron Lyle is TOAST

    Ken Norton?

George Foreman would eat Tyson's soul and crap it out all before the fight ever started

Liston/Patterson Foreman/Tyson a similar style match-up? Tyson may have adopted Patterson's defensive style, but that in no way makes him similar in terms of overall style. Did Patterson attack as relentlessly as Tyson? Did he punch anywhere near as hard? Was he anywhere near as aggressive?

I think fo rme the most feared fighter was Marvin Hagler , here are the reasons why.

    1. The best chin for me in history.
    2. Adaptable style , could box slugger eg. Roldan. Slug with boxers eg. Hearns.
    3. Good Power .
    4. Could fight for 15 rounds at a good pace .
    5. He look such a mean mutha , with a great stare , must have really put the fighteners up his oponants.

The main point i like about Marvin , is although he was regarded as a mean - hardman of a fighter , he never talked trash like a James Toney for example.
TOP GUY , GREAT FIGHTER , AND A REAL INTIMADATING GUY.

Well yes Tyson did intimidate Spinks , but Spinks beat an old Larry Holmes ( well thats a matter of opinion ) he was always going to loose to the first big punching heavy he fought.
I remember at the time RING magazine were really believing that Spinks had a chance , in fact they made Spinks the slight favorite , which is a very clouded view.

Larry Holmes summed it up when asked before the fight :

" Spinks Jinx , there's nothing to it , and the whole world knows he wont do it. He'll run around the ring for a few rounds , then Mike Tyson will run him down ".

Larry knew Spinks had nothing to keep Tyson off , in fact Spinks knew he had no chance , hence the fear.

Of course Tyson intimidated many fighters , this is just my theory on the TYSON V SPINKS fight.

I think there's a difference between the most FEARED and the most AVOIDED ..........

Some people who I think were seriously feared by their opponents:

    Joe Louis
    Sonny Liston
    Mike Tyson
    Roberto Duran
    John L Sullivan
    Stanley Ketchell
    Harry Greb

Some others who were seriously AVOIDED:

    Jersey Joe Walcott
    Marvin Hagler
    Cleveland Williams
    Sam Langford
    Harry Wills
    Charley Burley
    Jack Blackburn

Tex Cobb said "Ernie will hit you so hard he could hit you in the neck and break your ankle"Ali said"Ernie hit me so hard he shook my kin folk back in Africa.

I also would say Hagler because of all of his intangibles. He could hit and he hit and he could box. Cotto will go down is this category as well as Pavlik. I think Hearns was a good one with his one punch power. Ray Mancini I don't need to mention why I think everyone knows.Jake La Matta with his solid chin and never quit attitude. I could keep going with the Sugar Ray Robinsons and the Harry Grebs but I don't want to bore you.
    George Foreman
    Marvin Hagler
    Mike Tyson
    Max Baer
    Jake Lamotta
    Roberto Duran
    Aaron Pryor

Holmes whooped Spinks ass in the rematch, theres no way on earth Spinks deserved that decision. I had it 9-6 in favor of Holmes, in fact Spinks didn't even do enough in the first meeting to take Holmes title. Carl Williams and Tim Witherspoon done better against Holmes than Spinks ever did.

Tyson had far more skill than Foreman and he would hit him and not be hit with ease, Foreman thre wide punches, also he had better stamina so would have lasted if the fight went into the latter rounds.

Tyson had better skill than Frank Bruno and Bruno still rocked his ass....fights aren't won on skill alone.

George Foreman fought Joe Frazier and massacred him and Tyson would have faced the same huge bombs that were dropped on Frazier. Old Foreman would have whipped Tyson's ass too. George not only had a mental edge on Tyson, he fought using his physical features to his advantage.

We've got an entire thread dedicated to Foreman-Tyson and honestly I just don't see Tyson having the HEART or mental toughness to beat any top 10 All-Time Great Heavyweight.

How did I know Lyle was going to respond to that, I have seen the thread we both have been on it. Remember Foreman did not last long as a champion, he never did have the consistency or mental strength. Frazier was a stone smaller, and did not have the defensive skills nor speed of Tyson. Foreman could take a punch but not for 12 rounds against Tyson. The Bruno fight, Tyson had been out of the ring the longest since he became champion, broke his hand, tried killing himself and other crap that was going on, and Bruno landed a punch, so did Bonecrusher and Tucker but so what he came back and won.
