@ 1:50-1:58 & 2:27-2:35 Calzaghe probably would have been on the ground.

I'd go with Calzaghe on points. He is always able to find that extra gear & make the adjustments needed

Mullet boxer ALWAYS makes me smile. Like the Waterboy would say, 'it's the rays of sunshine that come down when you're feeling blue.
That's just B-Hop does to you. It's not so much the speed and reflexes that went, it's more a case of B-Hop making you think twice about throwing a combination. The breaking up of your rhythm, which in turn makes you force your own punches. The speed was still there in the single shots, but it's speedy combinations which are Joe's speciality. Obviously Hopkins experience and style make it very hard to land combinations.....regardless of how good or fast you are.
i thought kessler clocked joe with some big punches and he didn't even blink. everyone probabley writes kes off now - but i think he was (and still is) a great fighter. as for that video someone posted of pav v miranda - surely you aren't comparing calzaghe with miranda?? if so that is one of the dumbest things i ever heard
I'm surprised the voting is so even. Unless Calzaghe gets old overnight, I think he wins a clear decision over Pavlik.
Pavlik may punch harder than Hopkins, but he's nowhere near as crafty defensively. I think Calzaghe would be able to land early and often and would win a UD.
Pavlik is a nice fighter, but he's not a Top 5 PFP fighter like Calzaghe.
Hmmm...
Well, this is interesting for me. My first inclination is to pic Pavlik based on raw power... He can also box pretty well. Not as fast as I'd like but good fighter non the less...
But I always forget the ever constant that is Joe Calzaghe. I have picked agaist him for as long as I can remember.
Can Pavlik's stalking style breakdown the welshman?
I'd back pavlik but I don't make predictios with my heart...
Joe by decision.![]()

Yeah I find it odd that if you pick a winner of a hypothetical fight, you are an automatic hater.
I got nothing against Joe at all (although there are couple new fans in here I am not fond of) and all along, I picked him to beat Pavlik. After Saturday I just notice some chinks in his armour that I never noticed before that I think a guy like Pavlik can capitalize on.
Is Pavlik a world beater? Hell no! Is he a tough SOB who will fight non stop? He sure is. Do I think he has the capability to take away the legs of an excellent fighter who, to me, is showing signs of age and slowing down? Yes I do again.
I personally think Joe should avoid Pavlik.

I like Joe, But I think people discredit Pavlik. Taylor beat Hopkins at the time Hopkins was more in his prime twice, And Pavlik knocked Taylor out. Pavlik will knock out Calzaghe, Calzaghe will come head first and meet the right hand and get stopped. But if there was anyone that I wanted Pavlik to lose to it would be Joe.

Calzaghe beats Pavlik by UD in my opinion.
As soon as Joe gets caught he will just use more angles, punches in bunches and use his jab more.
I am not worried by Joe's chin. It was a flash KO. Plus he took some heavy shots from Kessler. Just look at the 4th round in that fight.
