Most of the big guyss of today like to BOX because giving up their size advantage isn't worth their while. These guys fight smarter than the big guys of old and they should.

There is a lot more to boxing than just the Mike Tyson's of the sport.

Fighting smart may be good for their health, but it isn't good for the sport. No one wants to watch two oafs paw each other round after round before the judges decide who did the better pawing.

No shit. As I stated before, excitement comes in all sorts of packages, and this isn't about what you or I like or want, it's about what will get the public's interest, and if you think that doesnt matter, you're living in a dream world. More money floating around = Better for the sport any way you slice it.

There are plenty of name fighters out there who are good and can add depth to the division but seemingly no place where they can catch the eye of the public and no one willing to make the matchups.

top level: Wlad, Sam Peter, Vitali, Sultan, Chagaev, and to a faaaaar lesser extent Valuev

Old vets: Golota, Rahman, Briggs, Brewster, Ruiz, Lyakhovich, Virchis, Minto, Skelton, Sprott, Danny Williams, Krasniqi, Sinan Samil Sam, Fres Oquendo, Jameel McCline, Larry Donald, Ray Austin, Domonick Guinn

young/untested fighters: Dimitrenko, Solis, Chambers, Arreola, Witherspoon, Fields (you laugh but hell I'd like to see him fight someone worth a damn), Kevin Johnson, Oleg Platov, Albert Sosnowski, Roman Greenburg, Malik Scott, Denis Boytsov, Mike Marrone, Alonzo Butler, JD Chapman, and on and on.

Tell me you can't find some matches between those guys

Sorry... this list does nothing for me. Other than Wladimir and Sam Peter, none of the active HW's thrill me all that much. And Peter still needs a lot of polishing. Give me 160 and 147 any day of the week.

By the way... Wlad and Sultan. Didn't they just have a snoozefest of a "fight" not too long ago? Naw-w-w-w.... the big guy division is a bore right now.

Athletes simply get bigger look at your NFL players of days gone by...Dan Dierdorf was a great offensive tackle at 6'3 275 pounds....these days the best offensive tackle is Orlando Pace and he's 6'7 325.

Guys just get bigger....some are still smaller and do well but the average heavyweight is only going to get heavier

the only one on that list that looks halfway decent is Denis Boytsov, he is the only one that moves, but stick him in with one of the giants and he will probably lose. Did you really mention JD Chapman, wow have you seen him fight, and Tye Fields that is crazy he fights like a drunken fat guy in a bar, Go back and do some more research

Why wouldn't it be an exciting fight ?? Povetkin has an exciting style, and so does Golota, Golota was in an entertaining fight with Mollo in his last fight. Excitement wise it would be good action i guarantee it.

...listen sport...I put those guys on there because I think it would be "exciting" for someone who actually has some skill to KO them OR that the fans might get lucky and get to see a brawl.

As for talent, Odlanier Solis is very talented, Cris Arreola is talented, Povetkin, Dimitrenko....those guys are good fighters and if you don't care about good fighters then may I suggest you mozy on down to the "Tuff Man" competitions and leave boxing for those who understand the sport.

Not everyone is a great fighter and not every fight is an exciting matchup, if you can't understand that then maybe boxing isn't for you.

When I say GREAT I mean GREAT....like Louis, Ali, Foreman, Marciano, etc.

Not everyone is like that. And not everyone is Mike Tyson and not everyone is Ike Ibeabuchi or David Tua or Earnie Shavers.


They get paid to fight because they are good at fighting or the person they are fighting is good at fighting or simply because there is a market for it.

Not all of them are ONLY professional fighters either, most of them keep their regular jobs and fight on the side.
