The heavyweight division has been stagnent for a while now, in fact the heavyweight division is dead. Never has there been such a wealth of mediocrity in the most prestigious division of them all, but why?

It is a sad state of affairs when a 43 year old ring legend coming back against a 40 year old broke thug is the biggest event in the division. How the hell has James Toney managed to get the title, even Roy Jones Jnr. It is ridiculous that either of these fighters can be called heavyweight champion of the world, Jones would've been snapped in half 10 years ago and James Toney would've been put in hospital by the likes of Lewis or Bowe.

The question is why? Is it the fact that there is just not enough money in Boxing now, unless you're in the top 5-10 pound-for-pound fghters. Maybe guys pursue Basketball and American Football as their way out of poverty. I don't know what it is but we need to see some young heavyweights soon coz it's getting desperate.

The only thing keeping boxing going at the moment is in and around the Welterweight division which is great but there is nothing better then seeing two 17 stone guys put each other through hell!
