This would have been Calzaghe's biggest payday but his people knew he would have gotten beaten. He is facing old fart legends now to try to etch his legacy. He lost to a very out of prime old Hopkins. To me he already has lost. Hopkins lost to the judges not to Calzaghe. Did he really look like he was in a fight. No way at all. And then Calzaghe goes off and says he would knock Kelly out , then sign the fight you coward.

Hopkins never won that fight you clown and Calzaghe is fighting Jones for the money the $$. Why would he fight Mikkel Kessler a far better fighter with more speed and power yet duck ol 1,2?
Kessler isnt that great. He does not have the power of Pavlik. He does not have the power behing the jab like Pavlik. Pavlik is never off balance. Pavlik is hard to hit at times. I think Lockett landed flush maybe once the whole fight with zero effect but every time Pavlik grazed Lockett's head he went down. This is a guy who tore through Euro middle weights and has never been knocked out. Same with Taylor, Miranda and Iron head Zurtuche. Pavlik bats away punches a skill that is almost not scene any more. Trust me if Hopkins can put Joe on his ass Kelly with the way harder straiter punches will put him down time and time again and to sleep. Dont kid your self your boy is a coward. I bet
Roy Jones can beat him. He probably will.
    Stop kidding yourself

Lockett was never good enough to get a European title shot.

He was ONLY matched with Pavlik to give him an easy nights work. NO-one on earth gave Lockett a hope in hells. In fact, he did far better than expected taking it into the 3rd round.

Seriously who actually thinks Pavlik can beat Calzaghe? im not sure even Jack Loew thinks that.
Did you actually watch Joe's last fight? He was like a fish out of water. He is far from unbeatable and trust me, Jack and Pavlik know this. The only smoke here is the screen you are blowing up your own ass. Pavlik and Joe are both over-rated by so many. Joe knows he is fading and that is why he has been shopping the geriatric unit's for opponents. Pavlik's people are also digging the bottom of the barrel looking for easy pickings. It is all there in black and white.
I fail to see how Joe has suddenly become faded.

An average performance against Hopkins isn't necessarily the mark of a fading fighter. The way he handled Kessler was impressive.

Hopkins is a very difficult guy to look good against.

Pavlik is also very handy. He's over-rated by the extremists and maybe the die hard Pavlik fans. But that happens with every fighter at some point who has a following. He's clearly the best around at his weight.

Anyway thats the first time i've disagreed with your opinion, so no hard feelings mate
Never have hard feelings with you bro. What I was trying to say as some from both camps on the extreme side think their man is unbeatable. Joe and Kelly are both beatable. The difference is that Joe is on 36 year old legs that are getting slower, while Kelly is on 26 year old legs that are getting more mature. Kelly is on the rise while Joe is on the decline in my eyes. Is Kelly good enough at this point to beat Joe? I have no idea, but I think it would be a great test for Joe.

It just pisses me off when some slag off on Kelly calling him another Lacy etc. To me that is just digging for excuses. Kelly may not be a world beater yet, but he deserves some respect even at this point.

    lol. sreious lol.

The only way to beat Calzaghe (unless you detonate an atom bomb on his chin) is to fight backing off and smother, Calzaghe does not fight well on the front foot.

Now Pavlik cannot fight like that, his gimmik is to pressure fighters and out bomb them someone with Calzaghe speed and footwork make it an easy night.

And im not sure Calzaghe is looking for easy pickings yes he is cashing in fighting Roy but surely you cant say Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins is "Cashing in" and before we get the Hopkins was old crap he was coming off career best B2B wins over Winky Wright and antonio Tarver (112-107) who has since come back and won a world title.

Hopkins was ALL WRONG for calzaghe, Pavlik is PERFECT foir Joe.

I being a big Pavlik fan hate hearing this shit... Cuz it's probably true. If you walk Joe down he will out point and out work you 49 fights out of 50. And he'd probably still pull out a draw on the one he didn't win. He had trouble with Hop cuz he was the exact opposite.

I hate Calslappy's style but he wins fights and has been champ for over 10 yrs.

Thing is... The whole "detonate an atom bomb on his chin" thing...

Is that what that peck that Hopkins landed was called?

I know, I know, it was a flash knockdown. and you're correct. Point is is that Joe has never been hit with the type of stuff Kelly brings to the table.

    That being said.

I believe you are correct about the matchmaking being stylistically in Joe's favor...

But Kelly always has that eraser in his holster... There's no denying that.

What did Warren do with Calzaghe for the better part of a decade?

    Haha.

But seriously that's ridiculous for Warren to say that. Who cares first of all? That's the business. Warren has protected every champion he has ever had, he is the one who in the end wrote off a Calzaghe-Pavlik bout. Arum isn't doing anything wrong. He can't possibly criticize Pavlik for staying at middleweight when Calzaghe fought in a baren super middleweight for his entire career. This is definitey a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Don't think Warren was criticizing Arum.. just letting it known Pavlik will be milked. They did business with Pav-Lockett after that press conference.
