Ah,I know Iam new here, but perhaps I have missed something?Have you guy`s seen Ruiz`s fights?....Slow hands, slow feet, clinching like crazy,or whatever the one thing Ruiz can do is Punch with the Right hand, just ask Evander, who looked to be in more hurt at the hands of Ruiz in I believe the second fight, than I had ever seen Holy before. Not to mention Ruiz as God-awful as he style is to watch,it had proven to be quite effective against most of the top Heavy`s at the Time,,Holyfield,Rahman,Golota,Brewster, and others lost to Ruiz,But not Jones.Regardless if Ruiz was A considered to be A weak Champion or not,he had gained his status through his victories eventhough they were hard to watch.IMO Jones deserve`s credit for his victory over Ruiz

.......Shite. As much of a non Jones Jr. fan as I am,As mentioned above,He should get his props for beating up the fugly style but none the less pretty effective Ruiz.May have been a terrible career choice, drained him coming back down but Ruiz was fat betty ugly effective.

Forgot the initial question.....No.An 87' Tyson wrecks Jones, badly.Alot is made of Jones speed but Tyson was very fast of hand and shifting stance early.Jones could not hurt him.

Yeah,I agree. It`s been said that Jones won the Heavyweight Title, and lost his carear,Prob alot of truth in that, although Jones was Due for A legit loss or two by that time, noone stays on top 4ever.Tyson,and Roy Prime4Prime.....?Good fight until Tyson catches Roy,It is possable Roy could avoid Mike for 12,but then it would`nt be A good fight,Right? So while were dreaming,I pick Tyson by Mid Round KO.

I think people are forgetting what the boxing experts were saying about Ruiz vs Jones. They considered it to be a good even fight and some even thought Ruiz would be way too strong for Jones, Ruiz may not be one of the better Heavyweights no one is saying that, but Jones deserves all the credit in the world for winning Heavyweight title, considering it hadn't been done in 106 years.

I wasnt,I said it was a puss out on Jones part then, and that Ruiz sucked then almost as bad as he sucks now,and it was the easy way to get some cheap publicity. I said it then, and I stick by it,Ruiz wouldnt have even sniffed a belt without some serious help from a certain promoter desperate to keep his claws in to one of the belts.

Those powder puff hands dropped Holyfield and knocked Fres Oquendo out cold. Both were decent heavy weights at the time too. Particularly Oquendo.

the thing that makes roy such a legend imo is that if we spoke about calzaghe or even someone heavier like tarver who imo are great and very good fighters, calzaghe being the great one we would laugh at the thought of them taking on a prime tyson.

however even though the large majoritry of people think he would get sparked there are some who think it would be a competitive fight even if roy was to lose. i just cant see anyone else who has a natrul weight of below cruiser being even given the slightest chance of making it through 3 rounds.
    James Toney maybe.

Roy makes one mistake and he'll be out of there sharpish.

Roy should never be expected to fight heavyweights really.

His win at heavy is really irrelevant to his legacy.
The very fact that he is mentioned in the same sentence as good heavies illustrates exactly how dominant he was at the lower weights.

Tyson revelled in the big slow guys because he was so fast in his prime and so good with his defense. He always struggled though against skilled boxers who use the jab well and Jones could do anything he wanted in his prime and jabbing would have been a weapon for him. It sure would be a good fight though.
Roy very rarely used the jab as a real weopon...especially once he got up to LWH and he was SO much faster than everybody else. He would use a lead left hook almost like a jab because he could get away from it.

The kind of speed and skill that Roy had was not the type to bother Tyson. Speed and skill like Ali, Holmes, or Lewis is the type to bother Tyson. As somebody else said, Roy loved to back into the ropes and he only fought in spots. Express Train, Prime Time Tyson would have gotten him against he ropes and beat him like a red-headed stepchild. Let's not forgot, at his best, when he was with Cus and Rooney, Tyson had a lot more skill in his game than he employed later in his career and he would have been able to eventually manuver Roy to where he could do max damage.
