It's just about money .
Integrity is nothing and everybody has their price.
Anyone believe nowadays that fighters wander into a gym and ask somebody to train them ?
If you believe that then you are jusr stupid .
this is a marriage of convenience
Roach didn't exactly ooze with confidence about believing him if you ask me. Plus at the end, he said twice that he doesn't trust anybody in boxing, so how can he trust what Margacheato was saying?
Of course Margacheato was almost in tears, the cheat got caught, and now he doesn't want to pay the price for it.
Roach said that Margacheato said that Capetillo has been wrapping his hands for 10 years, so is he expecting us to believe that he doesn't know when there is something different after 10 years? Or has he been loading them for 10 years?
I still don't, nor will I ever believe anything that piece of $hit Margacheato has to say. He knew.
Yet another reason for me to think Roach is a big mouthed clown.
Before he was saying as a boxer you know what's on your hands/in your gloves...he should be banned for life etc, now this?
he also said as a boxer you know how your hands are wrapped, any differences in them etc.
Even Pac has come out and said that Margacheato would know.
“You know what they put in,” said Pacquiao about his trainer wrapping his hands. “Someone who does something like that does not have confidence in himself. He’s not confident about his own power.”
Roach is possibly my favorite coach/cornerman. Well, not possibly, he is, for many reasons. Thus said, I would be very disappointed if he would accept to work for Margarito, I am not convinced it's real yet and I would like to wait for further evidence and a final comment on that before fully landing in that history but if ever it happens... it's wrong.
why? Not because Margarito cheated. I could, if I was a professional trainer, work with a guy who did cheat by the past, looking for some form of redemption. I couldn't with Margarito because what he did was threatening the life of another of his comrades, that I have a problem with and to me, it goes beyond cheating. To me, it says that the guy is just a butcher and doesn't give any respect for nothing, that he understands the dangers of boxing and has no respect for it. My little brother had a cranial trauma, not because of boxing but it is somehow the same kind of injuries with the same impacts and I can assure you that what he has to live forever with, I do not even wish it to the people I hate the most. It is ... well, heartbreaking and I can'T conceive that an idiot, for the sake of his own legacy could play with human life like that so care free.
For that reason, yeah, I will have a problem and a deception if Roach train MArgarito.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
I'm inclined to believe Roach, I don't think he would put his reputation on the line like that no matter how much money was on offer. He seems to be a guy concerned about his place in history (maybe related to his Parkinson's) and I don't think he would risk tarnishing it if he didn't truly believe Margarito. Let's remember Nazim Richardson and Mosley both also said they didn't believe Margarito knew. I still haven't taken a definitive stand on this issue, but I'm inclined to believe Margarito, based on what Nazim & Shane have said, and just my gut instinct.
Also Roach says he was very aware of how his hands are wrapped, but that not everyone is like that. I can definitely feel the difference between how I wrap my hands and how my trainer does it, but I know two of the other guys at my gym, can't tell the difference no matter how they are wrapped or even if there is some gauze in there. Everyone is different in terms of noticing things. Some people will probably focus more on something mentally when their hands are being wrapped and will notice the slightest difference, and some might have their head somewhere else and not notice at all, which I suspect may be Margarito, as IMO he is a thick bastard![]()
Yeah but it doesn't really matter what Roach believes; and all he'll be remembered for being involved with Margarito is that he trained a guy that was at the tail end of a questionable career and who is probably going to go down as a hated fighter when it's all said and done imo. I think Roachs' Parkinson's has taken a pit bull grip on his mind and he can't tell left from right
With that said I don't think it will necessarily tarnish Roach and his legacy, people will probably just pity the tard' and blame his decision on his worsening medical condition.
And c'mon guys; we know Margarito knew he had ACME brick powder in his gloves...if he didn't he really is a toolEither way he is guilty; whether because he knew and did nothing about it or because he's so stupid he should be punished just for lack of awareness
That's like saying it's not the fault of a little kid in a candy store who's friends stuff his pockets with goodies while he is reading a magazine and he walks out without knowing his pockets are full of stolen goods.......honkey please
Personally I hope Bob Arum and Roach get legally married and then adopt Margarito; that would be soooooo cute![]()
eh.. it's still a business, and Roach is still a boxing trainer.. Margarito, regardless of his recent shameful activities, is still a good fighter.. It would be like an NFL team signing Michael Vick to play on their team..
Is it wrong for a lawyer to defent a murderer? Nah, it's their job.. something they get paid for.
Yup that is what I was thinking, this is a business and Roach is a good opportunist, I don't trust Roach though, just look at what he did to Manfredo Jrbut from a business stand point, I can see where Roach is coming from and he always seems to crawl from under the wood work just in time, I guess that is why he is the Roach

Agreed dude.....I personally don't care if he trains Tonya Margarito, more power to him. But like you said it is a business and you gotta wonder if it's even in his best interest to train the guy: will boxing really want him back? And what is Roach going to do with the guy? He is not going to become some slick boxer all of a sudden and that granite chin he relies on so much got tested by Cotto and ruined by Mosley. Just dumb imo to train him but hey dumb people make the world go round.
I think I'm rambling againI hate it when I am trying to wake up and attempt to put coherent thoughts into a sentence. I'm going back to bed
