This may actually be a stylistically tougher fight foy Mayweather than Manny because Shane is so big and fast and he has said that he would keep Floyd on the ropes. I still think Floyd`s style is too slick for Mosley and that he will outbox him, but Mosley is one of those guys who is so gifted you never truly know whats going to happen until the fight has started.

First off It's nowhere near the same level of fight between Pac/Mayweather. It will do bigger numbers than Pac/Clottey but so what? Is that your dig at Pac? Pac's resume shits all over Mayweathers. Mayweather will be to good for Mosley.
I am not trying to discredit Pacquiao at all... I think Clottey is at least competitive with Mosley, but fighting him doesn't perpetuate the sport the same way Mayweather facing Mosley does. IMO this is just making me even more excited for Mayweather-Pacquiao should they both win. I truly believe that this will make that fight way bigger, and that they should have had one more fight before facing eachother anyways. The fact that Mayweather-Mosley is yet another boxing classic that will capture the sports world as a whole just helps whatever will come after that.

To boot this will mean that the winner of Mayweather-Mosley and the winner of Pacquiao-Clottey will be fighting for the p4p belt and for all intents and purposes the linear crown to the most prestigious weightclass in boxing.

I am going to ask that you guys please don't turn this into a competition between Mayweather and Pacquiao. This is a great thing for the sport and we should realize the sport's good fortune, even though it came under such dark circumstances.
    Very strong post.

I really hope this fight happens. People forget that Mayweather was calling out Mosley for years before PBF himself was a marquee name. I am glad that he is still asking for olympic style drug testing even though admittedly he politically is obligated to for the remainder of his career.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Also, if they are on battling PPV buys - I think that is completely rediculous to the fans. I think whoever signs the fight first should get the date. First come first serve, i don't care who it is...

Lets not force the fans to chose one or the other, that is rediculous!!!
yea and Pacquiao already having his fight signed has nothing to do with what you just said right?

GBP already has the HBO PPV date, so if Mayweather/Mosley is signed it's gonna be the fight that ends up on HBO PPV, Pacquiao/Clottey will end up being a TopRank PPV card

if you really were on about it being fair, neither guy should get the PPV date, and it should just be another doubleheader HBO telecast card
I didn't think all the logistics were done with the PAC/Clottey Card? Regardless i don't care that much who gets the date.. My only point was to not have them on the same night.. So spare me the eye roll...

The part about neither guy getting the night, thats fine too.. Why anybody would care what f-ing night its on is beyond me.. I just want to be able to see both fights...

what's the difference between this and when Showtime and HBO have stellar cards on the same night? none really

and anyways just read on ESPN that most likely the Mayweather/Mosley fight would be on May 1st

People that say that this fight isn't gonna do AT LEAST 1.5 Million PPVs on May 1st, DO NOT know what they are talking about or do not live in America. This is a MAJOR fight. This fight will be a monster. This will be Floyd taking on a guy that EVERYONE has said that he's needed to fight for almost a decade. Coupled with a 24/7, HEAVY media coverage, etc...it's gonna be up there. Mosley was last seen destroying Margarito. Both fighters are well known by ALL ethnic groups in America especially Mexican Americans. Mosley's the good guy, Mayweather's the bad guy. Mosley can't sell a fight by himself but as a B-Side fighter to Mayweather, I'll bet my surname that fight does anything above 1.5 Mil PPV buys. I would say 2 Mil but that's a hell of a lot. 1.5 is a foregone conclusion IMO, I just wanna see the fight. I'm hoping it gets done. I have a feeling the split will be a problem but it should get done.

If this fight is made, it goes a long way toward dispelling a lot of the rancor that's come up from Pac/PBF falling through. Both Pac/Clottey and PBF/Mosley are outstanding bouts that do a lot of good for the sport.

Also, regardless of why PBF will continue to demand stricter testing, it is a move in the right direction. I hope that it will eventually pull the commissions into taking greater responsibility on this issue.

Hard for me to give mosley a real shot at beating floyd. I just can't see a guy who lost to vernon, lost to cotto, looked like crap against mayorga, and is riding off a win against margo who was a drained, distracted (after the wrap thing before the fight i doubt marga-cheato was real focused) sitting duck....beating floyd. If any of those guys found a way to beat shane. Then floyd sure as hell will. I don't think he would have beat berto either...just my opinion. I'm just not big on the guy.

Mar you could also say he beat ODH, KOed Vargas and Mayorga at a weight above, just lost to an unbeaten Cotto, faced and beat Marg and was about to face the young undefeated welter Berto.

Mosley was outboxed by Cotto. Mayweather is faster, a better boxer, mover and has a better jab which Forrest and Oscar used against Shane effectively. The only thing Cotto has on Mayweather is power. I can see Mayweather outboxing Mosley. I think Mayweather outboxes Mosley over 12 rounds, he doesn't stop him, no way in the world. But I don't see Mosley outboxing Mayweather. Mayweather is gonna counter that double jab set up roundhouse right all night if Mosley tries it. If Mosley wants to beat Mayweather he needs to change his tactics.

Shane is a great fighter and will have backup plans and if all else fails he will just try and walk through and bomb away Floyd. Shane will not be denied.

Shane probably wont beat Floyd but the only guy to ever beat Mosley and make it look easy was Wright in the first fight, and that was Winky in his prime, i think Floyd wins a clear UD but Mosley is gonna test him and make him work

If he does that he's going to eat a ton of body shots. Floyd isn't going to try to crack that chin.

Shane has never done that in his career, what makes you think he will do it at 37...

    When he got outboxed by

    Vernon
    Winky
    Cotto

He was visibly frustrated and kept doing the same old stuff... Shane has a penchant to lose focus and get flustered/wild when he is getting out skilled.

the imprint on most people mind is obviously the Margo win and it was great since most didnt give him a shot, but dont forget margo is a sitting duck with 0 defense. Floyd is the best defensive fighter we have ever seen, and has great foot work handspeed and timing.. Mosely loses a UD 9 rounds to 3

Shane Mosley is a very good body puncher, and he will have some success to the body. But Shane Mosley as JT said can get outboxed, and often loses concentration. And that was evident in the fights JT mentioned, and also in the 2nd fight with ODLH.

I really like Shane Mosley and IMO he's one of the best Lightweights of all time, but he's never been a pure boxer despite his speed and ETC, he's always been more a boxer/puncher, and i just think Floyd Mayweather Jr's better technical skills will be the difference.

Floyd Mayweather by UD 7 rounds to 5.
