Default havent had a hatton chat on here for a while

May i be the 1st to start..

Hatton is god, greatest british sporting performance of the last decade was hattons performance over tszyu

was kostya beaten by the best 140pounder of his generation?
what would of happened had joe cortez not referee`d the mayweather fight??
should ricky fight on for 1-2 more fights?

Seriously, i like Hatton and he's been great for Boxing. His performance against Tszyu was great. Hatton had an effective style and decent skills. He struggled with speed and combinations and that's the one thing that stopped him from being elite. He'd struggle at 140 against Bradley, Alexander and Khan, and none of the others are worth coming back for. He should enjoy himself now. He's done so much more than he could have imagined possible, and he's set for life. He's nothing left to prove, and in any case 10 stone would most likely be a pipedream. That leaves him at 147, which is probably tougher than 140. He's the reason i joined the forum and for that i am grateful. He's given me many happy memories, and i doubt i'll ever feel as nervous about watching a fighter ever again.

    some great sentiments there mate

Pains me to think of the situation nowadays, had hatton-khan of happened with both in their prime khan would of eat leather all night and probably been stopped inside 5-6 rounds

Id like ricky to have one more just so the fans can get to say their goodbyes. Not an elite level fighter but just someone who can bang and make ricky look good at doing what he does best (katsidis springs to mind)

I don't no man, I dont think he is over rated, I think majority of boxing fans no what Hatton is, he was a world class fighter who gives majority of fighters a good fight, he is not an elite fighter. Would of loved Hatton of 2005 to have been around now at 140 to see what would of happened.

He's currently competing with Fat Mick for the title of Britain's fattest boxing promoter. He's also working on a drinking problem apparently.

He would have still lost versus Mayweather but he gave him a good fight and really had nothing to be ashamed of unlike the Pacquiao performance which was a disaster. What does 'this generation' mean, Pacquiao and Mayweather both made stops at 140 and were better but Hatton could have stayed at 140 and been quite good. I have no interest in seeing Hatton fight anymore...

and yet even you would still struggle to find an argument for hatton not being one of the best 140pounders of the modern era

Arguably his only losses came via a cheating ref and a steroid addict

What does 'this generation' or 'modern era' mean? I mean I would consider Chavez of the 'modern era' but maybe not this generation, Pryor too.

140 pounds is just a stepping stone division though not very often do guys stick around there, great fighters like Whitaker, Mayweather, Pacquiao and De La Hoya have all competed at 140 but didn't stick arouund for more then a couple fights. Even Hatton only fought Maussa, Urango, Castillo, Lazcano, Malignaggi and Pacquiao at 140 as a titlist which really isn't the most impressive bunch in the world.

vitali klitschkos record doesnt show a single big name win to his name, does that mean we have to count him out of the all time lists

Once Hatton got caught up in "Hatton Mania" he was always slipping away, he got far too excited and believed his own hype and thought he really was invincible.

I watched the Pacman fight a couple of times the other day (it dooesn't take long ) and those first two rounds were some of the most exciting rounds of boxing I have ever seen, if Hatton hadn't lost the plot he looked like he would have given Manny a real run for his money, but then he stopped thinking and got caught with a few silly shots.

I actually think that Bailiss was going to let Hatton rough him up aswell as he was getting under Mannys skin a bit with his rough tactics, watch it again and you'll see what I mean.

    It was electric.

The guy who posts here who knows Hatton says his friends are worried about his drinking.

Lol wtf are you talking about?

I'm just saying it's not comparable to someone like Aaron Pryor, Julio Cesar Chavez or Kostyaa Tszyu. Those are all 'modern era' guys, I was just asking how far back 'our generation' goes. I'd consider Tszyu 'my generation' as I watched him fight a lot growing up, so I'd answer no, Hatton isn't the best from our generation as he just didn't fight at 140 long enough.
