Probably quite difficult if you were smoking about 20 a day, but it has been done before and shall be done again. Stay strong and either buy some gum or start chewing your nails.

Its been 1 minute so far, going pretty well!

This thread isn't for plaudits of course as I haven't acheived anything yet, but just want it as public as possible for extra motivation.

2 mins now. Think the cravings are starting! Haha. If I can do the first three days I know I can do it. I quit once before for 3 months then studiply got dragged back in by testing to see how digusting it would taste after that period - not this time - once bitten twice shy.

My heart is actually racing. Any success stories from ex-smokers would be appreciated!

1 to 2 packs a day everyday.

One day I just stopped. I don't even know why I stopped I just did.
Maybe I had several reasons to and I can't pin point one.
I know family and friends would comment on the smell and on several occasions I though about my health so I'm certain it was a mixture of a couple things.

Having recently read an Orwell biography the coughing up of blood and weakened lungs is something that kept on recurring. Good thing you quit, Orwell seemed to have a bit of a death wish with his total disregard for his own condition and eventually he paid the price. One lung remaining? Heck, light another one and let's swig the booze under the hospital matress! I guess cigs were not looked on like they are today. All added up though, he didn't really help himself. He even hid his condition whilst trying to complete 1984 and that likely took him beyond any point of real return. He realised it in the end.

Yeah, quit cigs all of you! They can be devastating.

I smoke rollies so I'm not actually 100% sure, but I'd say its over 20 and under 30.

Wow, typing that actually brings it home that i'm not the light smoker i liked to think I was.

Before I went to jail I would be a social smoker I fucking hate that " social smoker" basically have say four or five cigs when having a beer, went inside and have never had a cig since, I think the fact inside all you can smoke is rollies put me off for life!! Been just over three years now.

Yes that is quite a lot of smoke there mate, Can't really give you much advice just remember when you get a craving it is usually for only 10-15 minutes so just keep telling yourself that you only have to wait for a short amount of time.

Yeah, I had xrays done to make sure there wasn't any cancer and they all came back fine. It was a long time ago and I haven't experienced any related problems since, so I think I'm in the clear.

I used to live in a very Orwellian fashion, but I kept smoking for a long time after I had quit most of the other stupid things I was doing and hacking up that blood scared the shit out of me.

Did nothing off the sort you can what sort of guy I am like, I thought she was a nice pleasent lady dont no whay her problem was. But in reality I got 300 hours community service in 2005 and over two years later I had onyl done around 100 hours of it and had a couple of court breaches so I can't grumble if I wasnt respecting the community order the only step was a sentence.

Fair enough although there was no need for her to be a two faced bitch, your report was going to be made known to you.

I have seen offenders get even more community hours which seems ridiculous but just the pressure of not putting people into prison. They could have even fined you.

Haha well still get offered the odd piece got a nice laptop Toshiba for 140 quid that was 600 quid just before crimbo, but just buy the odd thing for myself now or close family getting too old to be going jail again.
