Why the fuck is he trying to negotiate like he's actually somebody? He's no Tim Bradley or Marcos Maidana. He ain't even a Julio Diaz or Willy Blain. Bradley and Maidana are 2 of the division top stars. Diaz is a shot former champion. But he was a champion. Blain at least can say he's a 2 time Olympian amateur star. Paul McCloskey is like Paul McCloskey. And Paul McCloskey's don't get to make demands. His team admitted the offer was twice what he ever made. Does he not know getting doubled what you ever made is actually a good thing? Unless his previous highest purse was $12 dollars what the fuck is the problem? Your Paul McCloskey. How much have you deluded yourself into thinking your worth? It's obvious Con is deadly afraid of Precott and wants the easiest fight possible. So do everyone a favor and take the fight. The faster you accept the faster this charade is over. Not only that but the chances of you losing to a fellow scrub like Graeme Higginson or Peter McDonagh are pretty fucking high. I doubt the offer will still be on the table after that
    i dont really agree mate

khan will get millions while he gets 100k if that?

yeah khan should get the lions share but to that extent? paul still has to go through the training and the press and all the build upo and get to the arena and face the crowd
    The poor bastard.

Nobody really knows who is. To Joe Casual he's not much different to Graham Earl. He'll have been offered close to what he offered Peterson. It's not like a loss to Khan is going to impact his future earning potential. If he makes a good show of it it will probably improve things for him.

He might aswell lose to Khan on Sky Box Office, in front of a couple of thousand Irish fans and a couple of hundred thousand PPV'ers, in the UK at 10pm.

It surely beats fighting a few more tomato cans before losing to someone like Ortiz/Maidana at 3am in Foxwoods Casino, infront of about 75 travelling Irishman and a UK/Irish TV audience that's can't even compete with one of them middle of the night quiz phone-in shows that you get on challenge TV. That's if he's lucky. It might not even make the telly.
A loss to Khan does hurt his earning potential. He'll have to give up his Euro belt, which guarantees him dough against beatable opponents. If Khan totally humiliates him, as you all think, then he has to start all over again.

Has Salita been big news since getting slaughtered? How about Kevin Mitchell, Enzo Macc, Gary Lockett, Michael Jennings, etc, etc. Most careers go downhill after losing big fights.

McCloskey has been picked because Team Khan need a "gimme" for an April date. He is not meant to win. So, considering they are not offering "life changing money" and have a shitty rematch option, the guy has a case for refusing it.

Even though in a perfect world I agree he should take the fight purely for the cahnce to win the "world" title
I don't know. I'd take the chance now. Like you say, it's a world title fight. He has no chance of beating any of the other top guys at 140. He'd only have a very small chance of beating Khan and that's down to Khan's vulnerability.

He's as ready as he'll ever be. The flip side is, he could wait and perhaps get lucky. Somehow get a fight with a guy like Olusegun for a vacant title. Somehow.

I believe the main problem with that deal is the rematch options. If McCloskey wins.
Somebody seriously needs to tap him on the shoulder, whisper in his ear and remind him "your Paul McCloskey. Your not winning"
In that case there is no need to take the fight, right? He might as well make that money defending his Euro title
Unless Calzaghe makes a return and is in need of an opponent what other chance does McCloskey have of actually being the main event on a PPV show?
What does PPV matter if you're not getting any money for it? And even worse, like you said, gets slaughtered in a round.
Come on now. You know damn well every fighter would love to main event a PPV at least once in there career. This is his best and I'm damn positive his only chance to do it. Yeah it's about a 95% given he gets massacred in a round. 5% chance is never worth the gamble. Under normal circumstances that is. These ain't normal circumstances. There's no denying McCloskey's crappiness. His skills shouldn't even be called skills when compare to that of his opponents. His opponent skill package is one of boxings best. But his opponent also owns one of Boxings worse if not the worse chin in the sport. He's been laid the fuck out before and will be laid the fuck out again soon. So that 5% chance is worth the gamble. He doesn't have the skills to be able to hit Con the normal way. So why try? My advice to McCloskey (if his dumb ass actually decides to take the fight) is put your head down, swing hay makers and pray to God one lands. Who knows? Maybe God will feel sorry for him. Maybe God feels like fucking with Con. Either way it beats the alternative. Which is McCloskey fighting a fellow scrub in some bingo hall for drive-through money and losing. A very possible outcome.

Maybe its not his only chance. I'm wondering if they are banking on Bradley giving up the WBC belt because I'd heard they were pushing for a WBC elimanator. Maybe he gets a fight with Olusegun which is winnable, sneaks a world title and then positions himself for a unification fight. Tis a long shot of that happening though.

That is an absolutely ridiculous and insulting offer from the Khan camp.

Like others have said, though, McCloskey isn't going to get much better, and should really take the chance. He can just complain after, especially if he's made a good account of himself. Although the contract does bog him down for a long time. I'm sure the rights to the next 3 fights could be removed from it somehow.

Was wondering though, surely he'd make a lot of money from publicity, TV appearances and such leading up, radio?
There would be a lot of hype with it being Khan of course, but I'm not too sure how much money that brings in really. Does anyone know as I'm quite curious now?

McCloskey has already got enough exposure from just being mentioned now he can probably get some bigger fights on his terms. Like I said before just wait about 2 fights and Khans gonna get beat then he can probably get a 50/50 split and options on Khans next 3 fights.

I don't think he has. In a few months time he'll be back to being known as 'That Irish guy Khan was going to fight"

I agree with that. He is currently just a name in an article. If he takes the fight, he fights on PPV TV and everyone will know who he is.

If he gave a good account of himself, he'd give himself a really good platform to build from.

Obviously if Khan battered him silly, he'd be known as 'That Irish guy who Khan battered'.

Still a risk worth taking though.

Even if Khan took him apart, he could use it as an opportunity to build. Nobody now remembers Sergio Martinez as 'That Argie Margarito battered' do they?

Legacies aren't built by taking an easy fight for the same money at home. Sometimes, you gotta take a chance. If you get battered, use it as a learning curve. Khan did (although he had significent advantages) and Martinez is the prime example of this.

    You think so?

Maybe McCloskey should take the fight for free just to ensure that Khan earns over £2m. And sign over all rights to any future earnings as well!

Anyone defending the slavery contract offered to McCloskey ISN'T a boxing fan!

McCloskey and his team are just being stupid. Take double your money and make the fight happen. All this talk about options and all that is just moronic. They sound stupid even debating it. It would make sense if it was Bradley or Alexander arguing it. Ortiz and Peterson I can see too. Judah and even Mabuza would be allowed. But that's not the case. It's Paul McCloskey. You have no fucking chance. Take your money and get this shit over with. All this talk about options like it even matters makes them look like fucking idiots. It's like somebody refusing to accept a life insurance policy cuz the insurance company refuses to cover death by unicorn.

but the money being offered for a fight of this nature is shít! he can make that in two easy fights?

why lining Khans pockets with gold if you are getting nothing in return.

    It makes no sense whatsoever.

Did you even read the detail of the offer made? Its fúcking lunancy.

Yes I read it. And they admitted it's twice the amount he's ever made. Unless he some how has a richer option out there he really needs to take the fight. You say he can make that amount in 2 fights. Ok. What happens if he loses in the first fight? I highly possible possibility. Think he still makes up the difference in the second fight?

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
