I will point out that I would never be racist myself as I think it is small minded and wrong, but you cannot restrict discourse. I really believe that anything goes and verbal stupidity is enough of a noose. You allow people to say stupid things and then call them stupid. That in itself is enough. I believe in freedom of speech to its ultimate extremes and it is up to individuals to handle that as they see fit. Thus a racist can say what he likes, but he shouldn't expect to have many friends beyond other like minded racists.

I agree totally, people have the right to be racist. I don't like the thought police.
However we don't have total freedom of speech anyway. How do you feel about incitement to violence, which is illegal in the Uk and most other places probably? Should people be limited from freely saying we should kill jews, muslims, pick a group you think deserves it etc. Even by not directly saying to go out and beat up someone, you might still fan the flames.
Im not having a go by the way, just interested.
Yes, and I think you make valid points.

But when a radical cleric is saying 'Let's burn the Jews' don't most people just regard him as a lunatic and walk away? On the whole common sense prevails and people say that there is a psycho on the street corner.

I think the rhetoric is enough to hang people on their own. That is the most extreme example though. All Floyd is doing here is advocating supporting black athletes. He isn't advocating murder or anything of that ilk.

It is just a bias in favour of a particular race and you get it all the time. And I regard nationality as being a similar thing. A Brit will support a British fighter. That is biased. How dare those Russians support Lebedev against the great James Toney?

I'm not saying it is right as I don't do it. I often go against the Brit and support the black, but I cannot tell all people to conform to how I think. They can have their views and I can mock them for it. That typically is enough.
