    January 22, 1965

    Festhalle ~ Frankfurt, Germany

    {#9} Karl Mildenberger ~ 42-2-3 {16 KO's} ~ 6' 1 1/2" ~ 199 lbs. ~ {Age; 27 years, 2 months}
    vs.
    {#29} Jefferson Davis ~ 22-6-1 {6 KO's} ~ 6' 4" ~ 202 lbs. ~ {Age; 24 years, 5 months}
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Karl Mildenberger who is ranked #9 Ring Magazine and #6 WBA, takes on another American
    Heavyweight.

    Brunio Mueller {Manager} has invited '3' American Fight Promoters to view Karl in this bout,
    as Mildenberger will be planning on a fight tour of the United States.

    Jefferson Davis is a 'tall-and-lanky' boxer who is based out of Houston. Jefferson is a 'scrappy'
    fighter, who despite his lack of power is willing to trade with his opponents.

    The American had an excellent amateur career, which included a win over Cassius Clay in the
    Light-Heavyweight division.

    Jefferson has only been floored 'once' in his 4 1/2 year career, and has never been stopped
    in '29-Bouts'. And all '6' of his losses have been Decsions to World-Class opponents.

    ~ Mildenberger Wins Decision Over American - Davis ~

    ~ German Scores Win Over Pesky American ~

    Karl Mildenberger was given a 'brisk workout' by American - Jefferson Davis. Though Mildenberger
    won by a 10-Round Decision, he was forced to work at fast-pace to defeat the pesky Davis.

    Mildenbeger {199 lbs.} was the harder puncher throughout, but the 6' 4" Davis {202 lbs.} was able
    to land with long lead right-hands on the pressing southpaw to keep the German honest.

    Mildenberger and Davis fought to a stale-mate over the first 3-Rounds, as both landed sharp punches
    to the head. Mildenberger was leading, but Davis was scoring with good counters.

    The German was the effective-aggressor throughout the middle-Rounds {4, 5 and 6} as he landed
    with accurate left-hands into Davis' 'rail-thin' body, forcing him to give ground.

    But the 'pesky' Davs showed grit, and came back strong in Round 7, by landing pin-point straight
    right-hands on Mildenberger, including jarring the German with a solid 'double' right-hand at the
    end of Round 7.

    Davis was again effective in Round 8, as he was again able to out-hit Mildenberger from long range
    with poking left-jabs and right-hand leads to the head.

    In an effort to swing the tide, Mildenberger came out more aggressively over the last 2-Rounds, and
    scored with heavy right-hooks and straight left-hands into Davis' body, forcing the visitor to back
    away and hold. Mildenberger took both Rounds 9 and 10.

    The Associated Press scored the bout for Karl Mildenberger {5-2-3} in Rounds.

    Fight Purses
    * Karl Mildenberger .... $11,000 {U.S. Dollars}
    * Jefferson Davis ........ $7000 {U.S. Dollars}
