Jeremy Brett, hmmm....still prefer him as Sherlock Holmes to be quite honest, he was the absolute best at it! Think he was a bit too sissy to play Bond though, Bond needs a certain Alpha Male machismo whereas Holmes is just cerebral and aloof.
Dick Van Dyke would have been God awful as Bond....good fellow, but not a James Bond guy.

Good on Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, and Adam West for turning down the role, they are all way too American for the role.
