Any card players might appreciate this.
Went to play cards tonight, started out being a $1-2 NL Holdem/omaha game then turned into a $2-4 nl a couple hours in.
I bought in for $200 and after about three hours of solid play I was sitting around $900. I was playing very well.
Omaha is like holdem except you get 4 cards preflop instead of two. The table was getting very loose, big raises.
It is a omaha hand and I had QQ88 preflop and called a high bet...around $80 along with 4 others to see the flop.
Flop was: QA3 (ace and 3 are suited)
Betting ensues (around $150) , two fold and it is now me and 2 others. I have the best hand with trip Q's but figure someone is on and will call for a flush so I dont push the pot.
Turn: Q
I now have quads, the best hand possible at the time. I am invincible. I bet $200 one call, one fold.
River: 5 (same suite as A and 3)
Other player first to act, goes all in for about $400. I guess I know that it is possible they could have straight flush, but dont think they would have called through to see a one outer. Plus the chances they actually hit a straight flush are slim to nil. I put him on a flush at best, thinking my quads are invincible (which 99.9% of the time they are).
I am very happy at this moment being as this is a huge pot, around $1,900 I am guessing. I am thinking of all the money I have already made and am about to make.
he show KK24, the 24 are same suit as the A35...straight flush.
I cannot believe my eyes. I politely leave with $100-something left, even though I feel like crap, my legs were literally wobbly. Having lost not only a gigantic $1900+ pot, but also the $700 profit I had before that, and now am down about $60 or so on the night to top it off.
note that the $ amount isnt 100% accurate, it is my best estimation
Anyways, it really sucked ass.
