How was that a duck? Nobody with half a brain should see that as a duck. He is saying that Cotto needs to become more mainstream for the fight to happen. Mayweather was wrong to say Cotto hasn't proven himself, but he was right that Cotto isn't super huge outside of NY, boxing fans, and PR. IMO he, Cotto, should fight Oscar early 2009 and then that will open up Cotto-mayweather. OR hopefully if Cotto faces Mosley in a rematch, which Shane deserves, or the winner of margarito-Cintron... I think that winner deserves Mayweather. But Cotto just barely beat Mosley, and definitely didn't look very good those last few rounds, Mosley deserves a rematch, and the Cintron-Margarito winner deserves a crack at Cotto before that winner faces Mayweather.
See what you said is exactly what is wrong with the sport. He beat Mosley and everyone else he faced. Mayweather needs to take this fight. Quit giving these boxers like Mayweather these holier than thou personalitys and all that shit and bang it out with the tops in the weight. Hows come Hatton got the shot. Because Hatton is smaller in size and he made fun of Mayweather. Cotto should call Mayweather the coward that he is. Just like Mayweather didn't say shit back when Chuck Liddell said he had a 135 pounder that could wax him in a fight. To me if Mayweather got Duk Kim'ed in the ring I would care less.
