Miguel Cotto is fighting Alfonso "Who?" Gomez in his next fight.

If/when Cotto beats Gomez then Margarito/Cintron he will be the big attraction that Mayweather seeks. Until then, he's not much more of a threat that Paul Williams was a short while back............... or even Margarito was a long while back, and he would bring about the same amount of money that Margarito/Williams would have brought before they got beat. Look at the big picture.

Some people are hella ignorant when it comes to realizing this. Get over it. Bob Arum said that Cotto is tied up for the rest of the year in an interview on boxingtalk.com a short while back while Mayweather is fighting a fight as big as Cotto could ever dream of.

Mayweather is not fighting the fights that the hardcore boxing fans want, he is fighting the fights that ALMOST EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD wants.

As for Cotto?.................... What hardcore boxing fan wants to see Miguel Cotto vs. Alfonso Gomez?? Let alone the non-hard core boxing fans.

Mayweather WILL fight Cotto assuming that Cotto beats Alfonso Gomez and the winner of Margarito vs. Cintron. If he doesn't, only then could people have a somewhat intelligent argument by saying that "Mayweather is ducking Cotto." In the meantime...... just watch your boy Cotto fight the other top welterweights like Alfonso Gomez and Margarito and Kermit Cintron
Just one question, why does Cotto have to fight the winner of Margarito - Cintron? Certainly he's done enough to not have to beat them. If he were to beat Margarito or Cintron, that would probably be his 4th best win as a professional, no real need for that.

I truly believe that Mayweather will end up fighting Cotto but last night on FNF was the first time I've heard Mayweather sound like a Mayweather. Like Uncle Rog or his dad. Most of the stuff he said didn't make sense, he kept throwing these ridiculous claims out ($170 million this year ) and was pretty much shameless.

Still, I think he'll end up fighting Cotto.

I posted a link to a Bob Arum interview on boxingtalk.com about a week or two ago where Arum said that Cotto is slated to fight the winner of Margarito vs. Cintron after his fight with Alfonso Gomez. Here's the post in it's entirety in case you missed it http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...ed-haters.html

So while Cotto's schedule is booked for the rest of the year, why shouldn't Mayweather fight Delahoya again? Obviously it made tons of money and a lot of the general population (not boxing fans like us) thought that Delahoya won the fight. Delahoya vs. Mayweather 2 makes sense while Cotto builds up his popularity in his next two fights.

Correction Cotto was trying to land a fight with PBF or Oscar$$$ but Floy decided call it quits (take a break) and then schedule a fight with OScar.

But Cotto booked his schedule to stay busy. and make a plan to fight th rest of the WW, and if by 2009 FLoyd still doesn't fight Cotto hi will be no longer recognaize by the non boxing fans as the best WW because us Boxing fans know Cotto is the Best WW out there right now
