Mike was something special, Ok Holmes wasnt in his prime but he was even further removed from that when he pushed Holyfield alll the way and beat Mercer who should have got the decision against Lewis.

No one else would ever have done that to Holmes at any point in his career
You don't have a clue what your on about stick to Joe Calzaghe topics, the fact is Larry Holmes had been past his prime since 1983. He didn't look good against Carl Williams or Michael Spinks or David Bey. When he fought Mike Tyson not only was he coming off a 2 year lay off he also only had few weeks to train and was coming off two losses.............

When he fought Evander Holyfield he wasn't coming off a long lay off, and he didn't only have few weeks to train like he did against Mike Tyson thats the difference. Mike Tyson was good but overrated Tony Tucker was winning there fight until he broke his hand in the 4th round, and still lasted 12 rounds, Larry Holmes was special at his best and i doubt you have ever seen Homes against Shavers, Norton, etc because if you had you would know he was a shell of himself against Mike Tyson..........

I find it funny that Mike Tyson fans are happy for there boy to beat past there prime fighters, and give him credit for it. Yet when Mike Tyson loses to Buster Douglas in only his early 20s and loses to Evander Holyfield in his late 20's, when Holyfield was past his prime and also older, they make excuses for Tyson like theres no tomorrow, a majority of Tyson fans are hypocrites and these posts from you Ross prove it.
