I said Haye deserved Audley because they both think so highly of themselves yet neither has done anything at the heavyweight division.
If I was David Haye's manager and I wanted to prepare him to fight Wladimir Klitschko I would make matches to build confidence but also to expose Haye to a similar style that Wlad uses AND similar size fighters as Wladimir.
The guys who I think fit in these categories are as follows:
Andrew Golota - an older fighter, good basic skills, not much heart, doesn't take punches well, and fights in an upright eastern european style....technically strong yet seemingly easy to KO
Oleg Maskaev - same as Golota only Oleg has heart and he may not be as good technically.
Luan Krasniqi - a lesser version of Maskaev and Golota
Sergei Lyakahovich - a less dangerous version of the previously mentioned eastern european fighters
Jameel McCline - a huge guy, decent defense, not big on power (bar the Sam Peter fight), and usually timid when facing someone who can hurt him.
Alexander Dimitrenko - he's big, he's undefeated, he's trained by Wladimir's old trainer.....he's PERFECT to test how Haye would do vs Wladimir.
Alexander Povetkin - undefeated, top rate technical skills, questionable chin and stamina and IMO his power is overrated
Tony Thompson - big guy, good defense, only got KO'd once (by Wlad) good jab, and can outbox anyone and drag them into the later rounds a very tough test for anyone....you can't gun to KO him early because he has a good chin and good defense and he has decent stamina although it is probably because his workrate is low, though he does enough to win rounds.
Ray Austin - big, falls alseep on defense, does everything OK, not spectacular in any one area.
There are guys out there who David Haye could fight and beat and create a REAL buzz around him. And although the majority of the guys I listed are beyond the time where they will compete for titles they are still good measuring sticks and would provide solid competition for David Haye
