I don't know that I would agree that he did "okay" at 147. First time he ventures out of 140, he gets wobbled and barely escapes against the light-hitting Luis Collazo. Then gets KO'ed by Mayweather. Had he ever met an elite fighter at 147 (Cotto, Margarito, Clottey), he would have been annihilated. At 140, he beat Kostya Tszyu in a fight I've never liked due to Hatton's mauling style, and the fact he got away with things he would've never gotten away with anywhere else. His KO of Castillo was impressive, in that it was a one-punch body shot. But other than that, his resume has never said top 10 p4p to me.
