Sky have also bought Virgin, surely that must be illegal.
Don't like to be pedantic, but they haven't bought Virgin - they have just bought four channels off of them and giving them a longer lease to keep showing Sky channels:

SKY TV is minutes away from an agreement to purchase four major TV channels from Virgin Media. As part of the agreement to buy these four channels for over 300 Million Pounds SKY TV will grant Virgin Media a long term carriage lease of the viewing. Basically this move comes as part of what appears to be a continued cooperative truce between SKY TV and Virgin Media in which SKY takes over the management and profitability of TV packages and Virgin wins the profit from home broadband. This would seem just as well, for each has an advantage over the other in their respective venues.

Short of a merger, such cooperation between satellite and cable TV providers seems the best way to compete with telecoms king BT. BT still manages to control the lion’s share of home phone and broadband customers in the United Kingdom and holds those customers long term by offering great deals for unlimited broadband, cheap phone calls and free television (through their BT Vision channels).

The four channels being sold are Virgin 1, Living, Bravo and Challenge. Media entertainment channel Virgin 1 may be a casualty of the sale as it probably will not fit well within the SKY playlist. Neither SKY TV nor Virgin Media was willing to comment with a sale pending. One facet of the arrangement of interest is that Virgin Media has been showing excellent TV customer base growth over the last fiscal quarter. It would seem an odd time for retrenchment.
Out of interest mate, why didn't you go with Sky?
