The man is one of the smartest boxers I've ever seen - he got out when he was ready and didn't give in to the temptation to make a comeback. I'd agree he's been out of the game too long to be competitive now.
i agree wth all of you---its no doubt too late for sure, but still think if he went thru the 13 week training and got down to 250, with his huge reach and powerful jab/overhand right he could smoke the JOKES.
i want him to come back.
I think the best way to assess this question is to ask how you think Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield would do against the current top 10.
If you think they wouldn't be able to compete then ask yourselves why you think Lennox, who hasn't been in a ring for almost a decade is somehow less prone to ageing than those guys?
He ain't coming back, and if he did he wouldn't be Lennox Lewis anymore.
Look at Tua, Holyfield, Morrison, Mercer, Rahman etc.
Valuev was a beltholder, but he was never really top 10.
I do agrre Evander did enough, in a fucking awful fight.
But right now Evander isn't top 40 imo. His last few fights have been embarrssing. Did you see his fight where he was getting his head boxed off a couple fights ago to some bum and then made out he couldn't see out of his cut eye to get a no contest. Sad.
