Instead of Benn, what if at that time Eubanks fought the G man. Chris was not the same e fighter he was when he was a middleweight, and the second fight with Watson but he had a great chin and if pushed he could fight back as his will to win was second to none. Could Eubanks have beaten Gerald?

I just can't see that! 'G Man' was too active for Eubank - he wouldn't have been able to just do enough like he always did. He wouldn't have been able to live with the work rate. Eubbank's chin was cast iron, so assuming G' Man' could go 12, he would win UD imo.

You could be right but i just think Chris Eubank, would be put in situation like he was against Benn 1, Watson 2. Where he would show how great he was, remember Gerald McClellan was never really tested in his pro career.

So i don't know if he could survive the full distance, with a motivated Chris Eubank. Who could hit very hard when he had to aswell see John Jarvis fight.

G-Man never was in a long, tough fight but once and it almost killed him. There is no way Eubank doesn't make this a long grueling fight.

Doesn't one have to conclude that G-man simply didn't have the physical constitution for that kind of fight and Eubank would have won and maybe hurt him as well?

We only don't know if he could 'go long' in a fight, becuase he never had to. The only time he did it wasn't fatigue that stopped him.

I think thats a bit unfair considering he was damaged goods before he came over for that fight. Sickening to think just how many people knew about it too.

I didn't make myself clear enough. The only time he was in a long fight his skull, neck muscles etc were unable to prevent his brain from being nearly fatally damaged. That's what I mean by physical constitution. He was like Meldrick Taylor in that his body just wasn't capable of dealing with being struck repeatedly without being permanently damaged.

I dunno. When a guy who has never been in a tough fight before gets permanently damaged in his first grueling fight? I think it's likely that's telling us something. But no way to know for sure of course.

It was his rough sparring session's that caused it, he also took a few hard knocks off Julian Jackson in there 1st fight that didn't help either.

I don't think i have heard that before, how come was he already carrying injuries or something?

I have read the book 'war, baby' which may have talked about what you have mentioned but i can't remember as it was years ago.

He was already having bad headaches before the Nigel Benn fight. It would of happened regardless i think, as i said his sparring session's were very rough. And taking shots off Julian Jackson who hits like a truck doesn't help either.

I've read acounts of people who think G-Man was sent over here to get hurt, I dont know if I can let myself go along with anything as sinister as that but he was showing the distress signs everyone saw later in the fight pretty much from he first bell. He went at Benn like a looney from the off, could have been because he'd promised a first round knockout but I reckon he knew himself that he was damaged and I think Manny knew about it too hence him jumping ship before he went back in with Jackson.
