1. Ruby Goldstein not stopping the third Emile Griffith-Benny Paret fight.
2. Mills Lane ignoring Larry Holmes calls for him to stop the Marvis Frazier fight. Holmes would hit frazier, wave to Lane, hit Frazier, wave to Lane etc.
3. Marlon Wright's awful performance at the end of the first Bute-Andrade fight.
4. Randy Newman doing I don't know what in the first Abraham-Miranda fight.
5. (Tie) Laurence Cole's career and Russell Mora last night.

Marlon Wright is not just a bad ref, he is straight up fraudulent. His behavior during the Bute knockout was so over the top blatantly corrupt, that it blows my mind that he is still allowed to work.

When Moore got up by the count of nine. Partly Yvons fault because he did not go to the neutral corner pronto but Sharkey should have directed him their and resumed the count and not wait to start counting.

I just watched it right now. Not only isn't the count long, it is exactly nine seconds. Moore is down at 56 seconds and on his feet at 1:05.

I've seen that Japanese clip a hundred times and Sharkey is out of frame for the first 9 count. I own the fight and there are arguably 2 long counts but definitely one and much of the boxing media and press that were their at the time agree with me. Moore himself felt the same way and that is why he gave Yvon a rematch.

I own the fight as well. There is no long count. Moore not only disagreed? He was described as "seething" at Durelle's complaints. As for the press, Sports Illustrated, just as one example, doesn't even mention a concern in their article on the fight.

It was a long count and its as simple as that. My grandfather was their with his brother and both told me about it when I was a wee lad. Tracey Callis has written about it and so has Springs Toledo over the years along with many many other historians. I guess we own two different fights lol.
