Depends what you call striking if your talking about striking on a whole then the MMA guy is better kicks, knees, elbows, punches. The levelof strinking can be very high considering there are K-1 champions kickboxing and muay thai champions. Wht you mean is the level of boxing isn't very high and that would be due to the fighters having so much to learn why would they want to focus on just boxing when they can be kicked and knee'd so on.
I firmly believe hands are king as long as a two men remain on their feet. Imo if you put certain truly world class boxers in a kickboxing match and allowed muy thai clinches etc they would still have a solid advantage over most any MMA guys out there. Of course some boxing styles are very specific, I'd bet Pacquiao would have a way better chance to crossover in this sense than Mayweather would for example. Could be wrong though, I suppose a lot of it is just that I find boxing more aesthetically pleasing.
