Election is just a popularity contest. You shouldn't have to be popular to know what's best for your people.

You should have to appeal to the masses and get their mandate otherwise you have a dictatorship.

Yeah that's true. It's a shame that 'dictatorship' attracts one type of mindset and 'democracy' attracts another... Personally, I think 'Peace' is an ideal which in its current interpretation, is a little overrated.

You probably think the same thing about democracy.
