The butt definitely landed. Floyd had a bleeding mouth from it.

Unless Cortez called a break (which I didn't see or hear) Floyd did nothing against the rules.

Exactly. Ortiz' foul was blatant but Floyds wasnt because they were punches. Wasnt his fault Ortiz wasnt defending himself. The ref is to blame. So is Ortiz but Floyd is not.

It was a good performance from Floyd up til then but then he gets booed and Larry puts a downer on the fight just like he did with Lewis vs Vitali. He never gives credit to guys he wants to see lose.

First of all what Floyd did was totally legal, Cortez told them to box on and then remembered to signal the clock back in. That is Cortez's fault certainly not Floyds. Secondly how can anyone have a go at Floyd for taking a cheap shot (which was legal) after Ortiz had just clearly butted him?

Frustration had set in and Ortiz knew he was getting picked apart so he resorted to a Tysonesque approach which backfired big time.

In a similar situation, Michael Spinks ko'd Eddie Davis years ago...may've been Johnnie Davis. Good bit of show biz with Merchant; I think he took it in good humor. Since Ali turned an honorable sport into pro wrestling, all that stuff is fair game. I think that the only guy that did nothing wrong was Mayweather.(And Larry.)

    Cortez waved em in.

In respect of whether it should be DQ or not, the above is really all you need to know.

No. But It was a school yard cheap shot from the very best of what the sport has to offer but many many lesser guys have done it. Not like he proclaimed to set an example in the first place

If someone had just blatantly head butt you would you have just let it pass because he's a 'nice guy' and said sorry? If ortiz had any awareness he should have noticed Mayweather was a little pissed off.

That was not really a wave in. He didn't even indicate box or fight. Also he waved them in and then pushed them back apart, started looking at the time keeper as if t say he didn't actually start the fight.

Cortez messed this one up! This is a DQ or NC for sure when they protest.

He did notice, and there wasnt a thing he could do about it. He was on his way to beating him up just fine without some emotional outburst shown by Mayweather who is a face of boxing resulting in this circus...it was a cheap move by a very expensive fighter.

Him looking at the ref cluelessly didn't seem like he noticed he was pissed off about it.
Mayweather may not have the best temperment, but if someone had headbutt you, whatever Ortiz says it was pretty clearly on purposs, you would let it go? Even though the reaction was legal ( I wont deny it wasn't a little cheap) If he didnt take his eyes of Mayweather he would have seen the intent in his eyes that he wasn't happy, in which case he probably wouldnt have been looking elsewhere with his hands at his sides?
