just as sure that the Sun will come up, you can always count on Taeth to chime in and troll on anyone who doesn't think that one of his boyfriends was dominating a fight that he CLEARLY wasn't, to say that Hopkins (a known slow starter) had no answer to Dawson's "attack" from just watching a round and a half of "action" is a fucking joke, IMO Hopkins won the first and Dawson was edging the second up until the slam, the fact that Dawson resorted to slamming Hopkins then later went on to act all heated up just shows how much Hopkins was getting to the guy mentally, given his actions he's not too different from Ortiz cause he let frustration get to him and did a blatant foul

if Hopkins wouldn't have gotten injured from it the fine whatever, a warning then fight on, but the fact that Hopkins DID GET INJURED, AND SERIOUSLY INJURED AT THAT, and the fact that it happened before the 4th merits that it be ruled a NC

doesn't matter how you try to spin it Dawson fucked up, and is lucky that they're only pursuing a NC and not a DQ cause that could very well apply in this situation, and i dunno if it's just me, if a guy that i'm sure i can beat just robbed me of a career defining fight (at least that's how his retarded as put it), i'd be the first one calling for a rematch i wouldn't be saying "rematch?!?! hell no i'm not given him a rematch"

Shaw has already said even if the WBC mandates a rematch they won't obey it and will give up the belt.

So either way Dawson is losing that belt he "won".
Dawson is doing that because he's scared and knows if Hopkins ever gets into the ring with him again he's gonna make him pay for all the post fight antics. Dawson has always been a sucker for a right hand and Hopkins caught him with one that put his glove on the canvas.

So he is taking any chance he can to get away from Hopkins after talking all that trash after the fight never wants to get in the ring with him again.

Dawson is going to duck Hopkins now and try to parade himself around as the 'peoples' champ, the writing's on the wall. Dawson doesn't want anymore of Hopkins and if he was so heated after the fight he would want to avenge it and give Hopkins the beating he claims he can... but he doesn't, he talked a lot of trash and is trying to stand behind it to avoid a rematch. That's a punk move. Sad thing is people are gonna buy it.
I hope Hopkins hangs them up. I saw the fight differently to be honest. Going into the fight, I thought Hopkins would eek out a decision although I admit going back and forth, but after seeing the body language of the two, I believe Hopkins fought the first person since Calzaghe that he couldn't manipulate mentally. I like Dawson in a rematch. I believe Hopkins was trying to pull one of those moves that he uses to take off 5 minutes. In his last few fights, it seems that he finds a way to take 5 minutes off every fight. Hopkins got what was coming to him.
Hopkins was controlling Dawson and making him fight at his tempo, and apparently he did affect Dawson mentally hence the throwdown, the fake tantrum afterwards, and the weak refusal to give a "rematch", simply put Dawson became a bitch overnight and just managed to put a nice shit streak on his camera friendly "good guy" image, so much for backing him up against Pascal in a rematch
Hopkins was controlling Dawson? Really? He had the outside angle, but besides that Dawson was in complete control. Hopkins landed maybe once solidly with his right hand, and Dawson landed much better punches. He was putting pressure on Hopkins without abandoning his defense. The throw down was Dawson being rough against a rough fighter. I think he honestly believed Hopkins was faking, and he was frustrated because he was having an easy time with Hopkins and he knew Hopkins didn't want to be in there with him and wouldn't do it again.
You're trying to put a mentality on Hopkins that isn't there by trying to insinuate that after one round Hopkins was ready to mentally throw in the towel, if that's the case why did he keep fighting when Pascal decked him? And the multiple times Hopkins stunned him in their rematch? You give Dawson too much credit and take too much credit away from Hopkins. If ever there was a fighter that would never "pack it in" after one and a half rounds which are mostly even right at the point he starts finding a right hand on Dawson...it isn't Hopkins. This is getting ridiculous.
I agree with you that no way Hopkins was packing it in. He's a proven warrior. On the other hand, Hopkins often fakes injuries in order to get a breather to pace himself. To me, this looked exactly like one of those situations, but this time his bluff was called.
Why would he need a breather at 2:48 of round 2? makes no sense bro. Hopkins landed the cleaner Blows had the position game won and was pretty much fighting the Hopkins way. If it was the 8th round I would agree that he was looking for a breather but not this early.Like mentioned if he didnt need a breather against pascal who floored him 2X and was agressive then he didnt need one against Dawson

Matter of fact Dawson is the one who Falls asleep in the middle of the fight couple that with Hop keeping the pace slow in the beginning so he could come on strong from 8-12 like he does and I think Hopkins was in the drivers seat.

Thats just an assumption on my part just like saying he needed a breather in the 2nd round of a slow fight

I had Dawson winning the first and second rounds up until the body slam and I thought either way you had the rounds, it appeared Bernard was going to have problems with Dawson's speed and size. Dawson looked a good amount bigger than Bernard in there. Certainly, there is no way to know and in fact you saw something different.

What I thought I saw was Bernard leaning over Chad in a somewhat dirty fashion to put his weight on Chad and Chad then nudging him off. Then to buy more time Bernard wouldn't get up (which would be par for the course for Bernard fights). My question is: since it was only the 2nd round, and they could stop it before the 4th on the body slam, why didn't Bernard just get up and fight on and see how his shoulder felt after a round or two? Why did he say he wouldn't continue? I think what he actually said was something like "with one arm" as if to say no I can't.

Because Bernard knows this was going to be a 12 round fight. He's crafty. He wants every single advantage he can get. He knows that he slows in the later rounds and if taking a breather early gave him a little more energy later, he would take it. I say he needed a breather because Bernard recently has a habit of exeraggating injuries in order give him time to take a rest. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had done it in the later rounds again or multiple times in the fight. When it comes to pulling that kind of move, one thing we can agree on, is that Bernard does NOT deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I saw Dawson winning the first round and imposing his size. I thought Bernard was in for a long night. I guess we just saw something different.

and you can't have it both ways, how would Hopkins "putting his weight on Dawson" affect him at all if as you said Dawson seemed like the bigger fighter, Chad was simply frustrated with Hopkins defense and awkward style and was looking to vent so he slammed him then went on to make a bigger ass of himself parading around the ring like if he actually won the championship, to really break it down, the slam and Dawson's wannabe gangster act at the end of the fight is the only time that his ass has acted "Bad", the dude has a giant shit stain running across his record and his rep

I think you can have it both ways. They both weighed in at 175+ for the fight and a 175 pound man leaning on you will have an effect over the course of the fight. I agree Dawson was intent on imposing his will on Hopkins and showing Hopkins that he wouldn't allow him to fight dirty. I believe that is why what happened, happened,

Don't forget Hopkins didn't want the Dawson fight for a few years. There is no doubt about that. Many people at the time considered it a duck job. Dawson was calling out Hopkins and Hopkins wasn't answering.

If the referree didn't allow him to continue the fight when he wanted to, then that is the ref's bad, not Dawson's.

look at Hopkins record and since when has he had the habit of ducking anyone?

he didn't fight Dawson after he got schooled by Pascal because he chose to go after the guy who did the schooling, which IMO is a bigger risk than fighting the guy who had just lost, and i dunno what fight you were watching cause NEITHER GUY IMPOSED ANYTHING IN A ROUND AND A HALF

and yes, Dawson does deserve blame and to be scrutinized because ultimately it was his actions that cut the night short, and he's getting bashed more so for his actions and behavior after the fight more than anything, he's not the first fighter to have someone lean on them after missing a shot, Floyd does it all the time, so does Wlad, so does Dawson who has held onto plenty of opponents after throwing two or three shots, hell he even did it against Diaconu, it's completely ridiculous that Hopkins is the one being blamed specifically for this fight when he's the one who was screwed, him being a dirty fighter in past fights has nothing to do with the result of this, when did Hopkins ever get a TKO win from slamming an opponent? when did Hopkins get a TKO win from a foul period? if it was that Dawson fought like Hopkins and maybe held and hit his was to a UD then there wouldn't be an uproar, but the fact is that the guy "won" the Light Heavyweight Title in Boxing while practicing MMA

    I agree.

Also the notion that Hop needed a break in 2:48 of the 2nd round of a fight that was being fought at his pace is perplexing.

Also Hop dosent fade in the last half a fights. He finished off strong in both Taylor fights, the Pavlik fight, both Pascal fights. Calzaghe made him work a bit more than he likes, thats the last fight I saw him looking knackered in down the stretch and still he wasnt blowing and sucking wind exhausted

There wont be a rematch because no-one on earth, barring a few hardcores, gave a flying fuck about this fight. Even Richard Schaefer (Hopkins promoter) admitted the fight did shit.

It sold something like 3500 tickets, even with a stacked undercard.

Pascal sells 15,000 tickets in Canada. That's why "no fans" Dawson was saying him next. Dawson has had better paydays in the past.

There was talk of a Chad Dawson v. Bernard Hopkins long before either faced Jean Pascal. Bernard didn't want it.

Yeah I hadn't imagined this fight would sell well. Given the way it looked for the first 5 minutes and fashion the fight ended in I think you can bet many of the hardcores won't even give a damn to see it again. I know I hope Hopkins just retires at this point, and Dawson for all his talent seems unable to really keep his head in a fight when it counts. Although I think the TKO ruling was way off, I wouldn't mind seeing Dawson keep the titles and rematch Pascal in Montreal.

And now after 1 round and a half against Hopkins, Dawson don't want it. Yet he says Hopkins is scared. Right.. Dawson knew he wasn't headed in the right direction. He was fighting Hopkins pace, and if anyone was finding a home it was Hopkins with that right hand, Dawson could not avoid it and he was about to get hit with it a lot more often, he knew it. If Dawson truly felt he was gonna beat Bernard, then why avoid a rematch? Dawson has doubt in his mind, obvious by the fact he got so "out of character" at the end, yelling and screaming and saying Hopkins wasn't a gangster and then parading around like he was the champ and then saying he didn't want to give Bernard a rematch. That shows you right there that Dawson wants no part of Bernard and is content pretending to be champ. Why? Cause he knew Hopkins was about to school him.

Makes a lot more sense than Hopkins needed a breather in the 2nd round of a 12 round fight when he always comes on strong late and has some of the best stamina in the game.

He won't avoid a rematch. I guarantee that when the money is on the table Chad takes a rematch. Guarantee. Remember Chad stepped aside to allow Bernard to take a rematch against Pascal. Chad chased Bernard for 3 years. It's sorta astonishing that Bernard finally agreed to fight Chad now. Personally, I believe he was boxed in and didn't have a choice and that was the only reason he accepted the fight in the first place and once he was in the fight, he took the easiest way out. Bernard initiated the contact. Not Chad. He couldn't have thrown him if Bernard hadn't put all his weight on him. We can agree to disagree.Bernard is a notorious a-hole. Remember this is the guy that said he wouldn't lose to a white boy. Same guy who got in Dawson's face before the fight etc. Why would Chad have nice things to say to him after the fight? He was angry. People do dumb things when they are angry. Money talks. If HBO has the $ for a rematch, Chad will take the fight.

You do talk some crap. Hopkins has some of the best stamina in the game? Anyone can dance and lead with the head occasionally. Clearly a Michael Jackson nut.
