Default "Typhoon" Ishida knocks out Kirkland

In case you havn't seen it:

This fight might have gotten stopped a tad early, but the light hitting Ishida, did hurt Kirkland and had 3 legit KD's in the first round. Apparently someone forgot to tell Ishida that he can't punch, and/or that Kirkland was a bad mo-fo.

I still can't help but think this had to be a bit of a fluke, but you really gotta wonder, if Ishida drops Kirkland 3 times, what's a hard hitting hombre like El Perro gonna do to him?

I dunno, it's hard for a ref to let it go after you're being knocked down 3 times with ease. That 3rd one in particular he looked to be dropped pretty hard. I know Marquez was allowed to come back..I guess it depends on the ref..But something must be up if you're going down that easy. Caught cold?

"Caught Cold" sounds about as good as any other explanation, but these weren't "flash KD's" like Kirkland was saying in the post fight interview with Max, each one was legit.

Yeah he got his ass boo'd for pretending they were flash knockdowns
But I think Khan's knockout by Breidis Prescott was also him being caught cold..he probably would have got KTFO if those shots landed later but having taken a few more glancing blows or weaker shots, he may have warmed up to the task...

Nah probably not, his chin plain sucked at 140 lol

I like how Khan tried to pretend that surviving his fight Maidana showed he had a solid chin, you could have fooled me Amir..

In fairness to Khan, Prescott had some serious power @ Lightweight, as does Maidana at Jr. Welter. (just ask Ortiz)

Being KO'd by Ishida is about like getting KTFO by "Paulie" Malignaggi.

As someone else said in a different post, isn't it strange that he could take good shots from Julio who has a pretty big punch and Ishida sparks him?

Would your opinion of the outcome of this fight differ if Kirkland hadn't been knocked out by Ishida? In other words, when this fight was discussed a few years ago, who did you think would win?

If Kirkland hadn't been stopped by Ishida, my opinion of the outcome with Angulo would be totally different. I just checked with BoxRec:
    James Kirkland - Boxer

Kirkland has fought 5 times since getting out of the slammer, his only loss was to Ishida, granted they were basically 'cans, but he knocked out the other 4, two in the 1st round, and two in the 2nd round.
Two of the KO's by Kirkland were after the loss to Ishida.

So i'm thinking that the loss to Ishida might have been a fluke, and Kirkland might give Angulo all he can handle Saturday night.

That's somewhat what I was getting at. If you had Kirkland beating Angulo prior to the Ishida KO and that was with a different trainer, this could be an upset waiting to happen...

Even though they were legit, it wasn't like Kirkland looked all that hurt from any of the 3 KD's, but you still gotta think Ishida had his number or something, who knows. But I agree, after re-considering a bit, I wouldn't be totally surprised to see Kirkland win Saturday, we shall see, Angulo will definitely test Kirkland's chin.

P.S. I think these 2 mo-fos are going to be getting after it pretty good Saturday..
