The rap on him is he can't fight backing up and if you have enough power to stop him from stalking you, he has no answer. McEwan doesn't hit hard but is pretty elusive and Quillin can be a little stiff so maybe he struggles to find him a little.

One guy that is not a good fit for Quillin is Sergio. Sergio does exactly what Chocolate doesn't like. I think he can beat Pirog though.

With regard to the "Quillin hasn't been babied" statement, tell me your are kidding. His ascent to the top has been a joke and he took McEwan because he saw him everyday at the WC and doesn't believe McEwan can hurt him.

This makes a lot of sense and what I would have guessed. Quillin picked McEwan because McEwan can't punch and maybe McEwan will make this interesting because he is a better boxer but Quillin will come forward until he catches him.

    How's Quillin's chin?

Why do you think Pirog wouldn't beat Quillin?
I can't really comment on his chin. He was hurt by Miranda in 08 but his competition has been lacking since then. He was tough in the gym, very confident and bold but that is different.

I think he beats Pirog because he punches with bad intentions and I think he can walk through Pirog's arm punches.
One thing Miranda can do though is punch like a mule. I see him having difficulty with someone who can move and can punch. Pirog has some pop in his punches. It's a good clash of styles though and if Quillin gets by McEwan this weekend, it's something I'd look forward to.

Quillin looks a little raw to me. He beat McEwan, but it did not impress, IMO.

Completely agree, he stood straight up, backed straight up, pushed his jab. Has a very good right hand. He also looked very nervous.

Mechanical and uptight, he was pre determined...telegraphing on countering with power shots early. A more experienced shifty guy may feignt into some big headaches.

Lots of guys are a little tight their first time on HBO. He fought well, got the W and got a stoppage. There's room for improvement, but he's a top class middleweight now.

Would he handle Sergio? Right now no, but he's a big strong guy and with his power he's got a shot vs anyone.

Lee-Quillin would be amazing...though I like them both too much to really want them to fight

That would be a nice contrast. Quillin has some raw physicality and can mix shots but he waits too much, don't think it's all stage fright...I think a mobile rangy Lee could give him some looks and probs early but eventually he'd have to stand and deliver to keep more assertive Quillin off and think that would be his downfall and lead to his mug looking like someone once again tied a pillow case of feral cats over it.

Lee versus Quillin is a very logical fight. If Lee versus Vera and Lee versus McEwan can be on HBO as an undercard. I don't see why Quillin v. Lee shouldn't be made. I don't believe he is ready for Sergio.

Quillan was well ahead but the stoppage was premature.Poor refereeing.

I once thought Quillin would beat Lee. Lee has improved. Quillin seems not to be improving. I now like Lee to beat him. Before the fight, I said I thought Quillin could beat Pirog. Based on what I saw, that isn't likely.

Quillin has had years of top quality sparring and training at the Wild Card. He has a deal with Golden Boy. He has been brought along slowly. Given all those factors, he should have looked more impressive than he did. I was really disappointed in what I saw.

Terribly early stoppage, one of the worst of the year.

Apparently they'll jump in there at the first sign of trouble to save McEwan, but in Mexico they'll let poor Angulo get beat half to fuckin death.

I'd like to see Quillen/ Lee. I think Quillen would stop Lee late

For the amount of fights he's had and the limited comp he's beat i'd say the dude is doing ok. If nothing else he's doing the basics and the main goal in boxing in the first place which is to win and hit the other guy more than he hits you. As he steps up comp we'll see how good he really is.
