This is a quote from an NHL forum where people were watching the fight and it pretty much sums up boxing for me these days:

"This isn't even a sport anymore really. A sport is an athletic competition where some entity wins based on merit. What this is, is athletic activity with a predetermined result."

Everyone thought manny was gonna destroy him, but since Marquez put up a decent fight, everyone thinks he automatically wins. That isn't true. Manny threw more punches. He connected more. He may have missed many punches but he landed more.

If you look at the posts people were making here in saddo during Pac-JMM 2, its similar to what people are posting here now, most people thought JMM won because Manny wasn't dominating him when people expected that he would.

It makes a total mockery of boxing and Manny is horrid. As if he really thinks he won the fight. He should have marched into the dressing room of Marquez and given him his belt.

Very, very dishonest from Manny, the judges and also from the HBO commentary at the end.

Marquez was coasting and had no reason to press and possibly make a fatal mistake in the last 2 rounds. He was winning the rounds effectively with his clean punching and countering.

I am well pissed off with this.
stevemaxboxing: Funny, but two of the 3 judges had Manny winning the 12th. the one who had MP winning by 4(Trowbridge) had him losing it. Hmmmm

that is a tweet from stevekim of maxboxing.

Shit like this is part of the reason no one cares about boxing any more. Congrats Arum and Manny, enjoy the "win".

yup, these decisions these days are fucking horrible. no matter how bad their boy gets beat, the corruption always allows the more popular fighter to continue.
    corruption has ruined the sport.

how could a judge have had Manny up 8 rounds to 3 after round 11. That is sickening.

I never thought Pacquiao would dominate JMM.

Well he is a giant killer. The kind of giant who has no defensive skills and finesse as JMM. Marquez is Pac's kryptonite.

I really enjoyed Alvarez Presscott more, even though the skill level was far below these two.

yea it was a close fight either way, to act like its some travesty for marquez to lose a close fight is stupid

its one thing if u think marquez won but to not realize that all but 4 like rds were pretty much open to interpretation...

marquez did have the more definitive rounds tho
I look at this fight as Marquez giving it away more than him Chris John. He didn't do enough to win it even though John's and Pacquiao's performance were crap. He lost because he lacked aggression and that is the problem a counter puncher lives with. He's stupid for putting faith in technical ability when so many judges look at aggression as a deciding factor a round that is even.

Exactly, it makes no sense at all. I knew something was amiss when I heard the first card and then on seeing the second one so close I knew the cooking was in. I had a glimmer of hope when I heard the last card which sounded realistic, but on hearing Pac called the winner? Well, that was an outright disgrace.

The crowd knew what they saw and the booing was very apt. Manny is so limited against a smart fighter who isn't afraid of him.

Marquez is a warrior and he won that fight hands down. Not even close, not by a long shot. So ridiculously easy in the favour of Marquez.

Not in my country. We burn down our cities in fits of blind rage when we lose important hockey games.

Is anyone in Vegas right now and accessing the forum by phone? Any race riots yet? Any Latinos vs Chinos fights outside the ring?
