    Default Alvarez v. Cintron

What are people's thoughts on this fight? Part of me says that Kermit's recent bad form has been exaggerated. Yes, he performed poorly against Molina, but this is the same Molina who drew with Lara, and I consider Lara to be one of the best in the division. Kermit beat Antoine Smith in his next fight, and frankly, Antoine Smith isn't any worse than Alvarez's recent opposition. By far Kermit has the edge in experience as Alvarez hasn't fought anything near the level of opposition that Kermit has and doesn't have a key win like Kermit has over Angulo. I also think Kermit is a better natural athlete than Alvarez, faster, and with better footwork. Alvarez, of course, is fresher, has great combination punching, and probably is the more powerful puncher. It really depends on which Cintron shows up. Clearly, there is reason Eric Gomez at Golden Boy picked Cintron and not Molina or Lara because Cintron looks to be on the slide. At the same time, this is a tougher fight than Gomez, Rhodes or Hatton. All in all, its a step in the right direction for Alvarez. It will be impressive if he comes out with a dominating KO or something similar.

It's a step in the right direction for Alvarez for sure ! He's coming along nicely and someone of Cintron's calibre will tell us more about him. I would take Alvarez to continue his strides and win a UD with a few scares along the way.

That sounds very reasonable. Good pick in my opinion. I can see an upset too, but that's a solid safe bet.

Cintron can bang so Alvarez should have his chin checked in this one, if he can take the power I expect him to win on points by a large margin.

So far I like what I have seen in Alvarez but like it was said in the last post, he'd better test his chin because a Cintron in shape means an unexpected KO or a long debilitating evening of pain. Cintron is seasoned and Alvarez is still growing. I expect Alvarez tosharpen his boxing skills and jab more while doing some endurance training for Cintron because if he wants to win he has to work for it in the gym to look good on fight night.

Im one of the few Kermit fans and ive gone back and forth with this bout but ultimately, what it comes down to is his mental toughness. He's way too consistent for me to picking him anymore..

He has the ability, everybody knows that, yet he's just not all there mentally. He can look great in one fight then look like a totally different fighter in the next so it's really hard to gauge a fighter like him..

Even if he does well, he'll probably get robbed anyway given that the bout is in Mexico.. Too many fighters have been getting the worst of it due to politics so im just gonna go safe here...

Canelo wins a UD possibly. I dont see a knockout.

You can anaylze it any way you want Rant-Cat, but Canelo is on a roll, and Kermit is pretty much at the end of his career, especially after he loses to Alvarez.
Canelo wins a clearcut UD, or stops Cintron with a wicked body shot in one of the later rounds.

Like Galaxy said, a late ko is possible too especially if kermit's mind aint mind. He doesnt like it to the body and canelo throws a pretty mean one. Canelo shouldnt box with him cuz kermit has the advantage in that area. He should fight kermit aggressive and discourage him early. He cant allow too much distance cuz thats kermit's game right there.

Kermit has the range and the boxing skills to score the upset if he fights right. He gotta keep keep that distance in check and throw that jab with authority. if he sets the tone, he can make better use of his right hand.. Canelo gets hits alot with right hands and thats kermits money punch.

I noticed how canelo doesnt like to clinch nor does he fight on the inside.. kermit has alot of advantages in this bout but he just has to utilize them.

Right. The main thing Kermit must do to win this fight is if to fight at a distance and jab following by an intermittent right hand. Saul has powerful compact combination punches that he gets off when he is in range. Kermit needs to keep moving like he did against Angulo. My gut is telling me that Cintron's best days are gone and that Alvarez will beat up a bit for a late semi-shocking stoppage in what Golden Boy will hype as his coming otu party. At the same time, if pressed, I think my official call will be Cintron in an upset.

^^ likely scenario ey Rant.. But if Kermit can put all those you said together, he can win!!
