I'm cheerfully cynical these days, so I don't buy into that kind of thing, but if you have been successful from it then congratulations to you.

However, my concern about this kind of thing was exemplified by the BBC documentary 'who wants to be a millionaire', looking at the various gurus preaching techniques to get rich like the Rich Dad, Poor Dad guy. The kind of people who are spending a lot of money going to their events are really quite poor and vulnerable, and spending half their monthly wage going to see a speech by some get-rich guru can be very damaging.
