I was told by a very good source, before the Fight. That Montell Griffins had Sparked McClellan, 3 weeks before the Benn Fight, in Sparring.

After watching that I still cant decide who is to blame, if anyone.

His trainer's inexperience certainly didn't help but it's easy for us to judge in our armchairs with the benefit of hindsight.

I thought Gerald's families reaction was seriously unjust, to say you want Benn dead is just plain dumb. I know Benn's post fight comments seem harsh but in the context of their timing they're pretty standard.

saw it on catch up last night. was a great programme.

Anyone who thinks what Benn said after the fight was spiteful imagine how pumped up he was, and there was genuine animosity between them which wouldn't have disappeared the minute the fight ended. it was said in the heat of the moment and i think most people can see that. Had Mclellan made a full recovery i reckon his family would have found it easier to forgive.

If anyone wants to find out more about this fight read 'war, baby'. It's a good read and goes more in depth talking about GM's lifestyle and the aftermath of the fight.

His sister is an AMAZING person though and didn't deserve to be thrust into the role of a 24/7 carer. I thought her story should have been dug into a little deeper.

Great doc though. ITV docs are usually crap but this one was a cut above
I have to say I completely agree. My sympathy for McClellan disappeared when I heard about the dog fighting (and I heard about it years ago)

It is sad what happened to Gerrard, but he was not a nice person outside of the ring prior to injury.

Cheers mate. So he would have had an MRI scan?

Off topic but how did the Barrera Lloyd fight go ahead if he had a plate in his bonce and went through an MRI? No one apprently knew about it until much later is the story.
