    Try this guy and his disciple Yeshu on for size.. Joshua Ben Perahiah

    They according to the Jews history performed miracles exorcisms and were put to death.

    You have to remember that Yeshu was a popular Hebrew name, I think jeshu pronounced jyesho in Greek was written in the Greek translation of the NT because they didnt have the same Y sound or u sound, simluar to Yeshu sounds in Hebrew. Germ/English translation cut from Greek then latin got us to Jesus our closest pronunciation for our own tounge at that time.

    So to look up Jesus in history, Jewish or other, you wont find that name in Israel or in the Roman log in that period.

    Makes sense, because the jesus character was alleged to be a rabbi. I think it interesting that while Jews came up with an original concept/brainfart for a "Messiah", Jesus was never accepted as the the Jewish Messiah. It's also worth pointing out that in Judaism, the Messiah is not considered to be God or a Son of God.
