At this point it could actually make sense. Before the Cotto fight I would have said Margarito was def the fresher fighter and would whip Mayorga. But, now I don't know. There is no denying that against common opponents, Mosley and Cotto, Mayorga did better, aside from the 12th round

Mayorga vs. Margarito could play out like Vargas vs. Mayorga did a couple of years ago.

Ricardo Mayorga can box when he wants to and he has one punch KO power unlike Margarito, but the pressure of Margarito could still get to a shopworn El Matador.

I'd like to see it as a last hurrah for both men, but I don't think Margarito needs the money nearly as bad as Mayorga does.
