(Sigh) yes because the Brits are so svelte and slender
Miles you might be skinny but you also cut yourself....perhaps if you ate more you wouldn't be so moody.

no...its not popcorn. he's referring to the fact that just about everything is now made from corn... and sadly, more recently, wood is making its way into many "foods".

The mental self laceration is a very occasional thing. It happens as commonly as Bilbo's nob shrinkage. A once every blue moon kind of thing.
I eat 3 square meals a day and I can fit down the supermarket aisle. Too many Western people overindulge in the former and can barely do the latter. They should moderate their eating habits more.

'Denial' over obesity health issues - Yahoo!
It seems that even fat people don't think that they are fat. They shovel pizza down their throats and then try to squeeze themselves into clothes that don't fit.
There is something amiss when a quarter of a country is shaped like an orange filled with blubber.
This has nothing to do with socialism really, but it does tell you that cheaply produced fast food is not all that good for the figure.

I don't understand people that cannot wait for a meal. When I was growing up, I was always told to wait and so I waited and then when I finally got my meal, I enjoyed it all the more. My wife is very svelte like me, but unlike me just cannot wait. Maybe I will say 'dinner will be ready in an hour' and automatically she will go and eat 2 bananas. Now I can only imagine the kind of carnage going on in homes full of these all too common obese people. 'Ten more minutes? Nooooooo!' Then they rip off the cupboard door and devour a Walker's multi pack of crisps.
Just wait for your meal and stop being a greedy bastard, you fat fuck!

ruthless is correct.
the documentary basically shows how all that competition going on in your grocery store is essentially an illusion. While it appears there are 100's if not 1000's of companies all offering products and competing for your dollar, it couldn't be further from the truth. Most companies are subsidiaries of 2 or 3 major companies.
That the fast food industry has changed the nature of the production of our food so drastically it affects every element of the food chain. That because of subsidies for corn and how cheap it can be produced for, that nearly 90% of all food, including meats, all vegetables etc all food groups...nearly everything is in one way or another a corn by product. And again, controlled by 2-3 major corporations.

YB, since when did most people fall for that illusion? It is common sense that supermarkets have only a few providers and that choice for consumers is limited. It's a basic logic and is entirely correct, but most people know it. They just have no means of dealing with it.
In my city a McDonalds has just opened. Is this freedom or is it overall slavery? After all, we all have the choice to eat the food. I would argue that in a world where the choices are fewer then the grip gets harder. Just as you do, but it is a basic logic.
There were never any choices to begin with and they want to control every aspect. In some respects life did offer freedom, but seeing how the environment is off the agenda I think humanity is screwed and I will be a witness to it all.
Make sure you wear a condom.
So back on topic...has there ever been a socialist based country that actually turned out ok
