Ricky Burns nearly ambushed by young thugs.. Called the police on the little kids

How is Burns getting criticised here? Fighting a gang of youths is like being the bear baited by a pack of dogs. If you start to chase one of them, the rest will pelt you from another angle with stones bottles etc. He's at less of a risk running away and having stuff thrown rather than trying to get involved and grab one or two of them.

Burns made a wise choice but I just thought it was kinda odd cuz Ive rarely heard about fighters calling the police for help.. These boxers are proud men and more times than not, we read about them getting into fights instead of dialing 911..

You are making light of it, but if he had retaliated he could have a) got into serious trouble b) get knifed or have a jagged bottle slashed across the head. The UK is a savage place with a serious youth crime problem, the last thing you should be doing is going 1 on 6 with a gang of youths.

He's a boxer and has his pride, but that doesn't mean he has to be an idiot too. I salute him on making a very sensible decision. Good choice.

In fairness, I'm not convinced everyone in his household knows who he is, let alone the 999 operator.
