Slow start from Calzaghe but he strolled it on home from the 4th onwards. Calzaghe won that fight by a considerable margin. As the fight went on he forced Hopkins to fight at his pace and outlanded Hopkins something ridiculous. Not a difficult fight to score and in polls I have done on this most people have Joe winning.

Just maybe Calzaghe didn't care for a rematch because he felt the same as what popular opinions suggests which was a convincing Calzaghe victory.

A rematch would go the same way except Calzaghe wouldn't be a sucker for the lead right in the first round.

You mean like the one Roy Jones knocked him down with in his very next fight? Calzaghe was always a sucker for the right. There was no adjustment he could of made

And how the fuck can you or anybody have Calzaghe winning when he landed damn near no legal punches? Lot of people need to read up on basic boxing rules

    Striking
The boxer can only strike with a closed fist using the front knuckle portion of the glove. Slapping with an open hand or striking with the wrist or lace area is illegal. The thumb must be held tight to the fist to avoid eye-gouging.
    Shit not hard to understand

The fight was easy to score

8-4 to calzaghe, and add the knockdown to that

Yes hopkins probably landed the best 4 or 5 punches of the fight but thats all he landed

i can see both sides to the argument on a lot of fights but i cant understand how anyone can score that fight to bhop

The result would be similar although joe could get out of the blocks quicker and win by more

Bernard won this fight easily under the rules of "boxing", heck if you put a bet on in the 12th round for a JC victory, you would have made a killing.

Cleaner, harder shots - He could have been busier but why does it matter when your opponent isn't landing effective punches. (Landed more punches on Hopkins than Roy Jones, my left nut!)

Again I refer to this wonderful stoppage from this barrage of bitch slaps whilst Daddy Enzo holds Joe's handbag...and again I say, FUCK Joe Calzaghe..

I hope he's still arrogant enough to come out of retirement so he can take a blemish on that BS undefeated record of his

I thought Bernard edged it 114-113.

Close fight with hard to score rounds.

Hopkins did the better work early where Calzaghe did better in the second half of the fight.

The majority of fans favored Calzaghe which i have no problem with.

Easy to be undefeated when you duck most of your dangerous opponents & get decisions which he no way in hell deserves if he does. Hopkins won 115-113 & thats being generous to Slappy.
The proof of the pudding was when Nard offered the Welsh Wonder a rematch in his home country, in front of Calzaghe's fans who'd followed him throughout his career, What a way for Joe to repay those fans, BUT what does Joe do?? Joe RETIRES!!! to go sniffiin, drinkin, chasin ho's & killing innocent little rabbits.

Can't remember Joe doing hard time, but if I recall Bernardo did a nasty crime if I remember, from zero to hero a great roll model not really in the words of Mr king Only In America.

The fight was a stinker and that was mainly due to Hopkins, no way could he keep up with Joe. No body wanted to see a return of that fight, if Joe won on B Hop’s turf, there was no need to fight again.

I agree Joe wasted a large portion of his career and tried to make amends near the end of his career, so Roy Jones was logically the next fight for him. He had beaten 2 young undefeated fighters and 2 old legends.

I agree with you but injury did stop him from fighting on many occasion's, Joe had bad hand trouble
all through his career, let's face fact's in boxing you hand's are your tool's.
At the end of his career he was no spring chicken, himself, but I agree he did waste a large part of his
    career.
