I'm assuming that 150 came from Martinez originally throwing that catch-weight out as bait to Manny (bait which was not taken). I too would prefer to see this at 154 but I don't think it's an issue of Floyd pulling 150 out of nowhere and hoping that Martinez wouldn't agree to it. Martinez's representation/offer came first.

This is correct and in addition, I believe he extended the 150 offer to Floyd too. Still, Floyd has given Manny a ton of crap for fighting catchweights. If this fight were to be made, I would prefer it at 154. Floyd fought Oscar there years ago anyway and now he is bigger than he was then so it isn't even as much of a stretch.

Is Martinez or Pacquiao a tougher opponent for Mayweather?

I think Martinez at 154 is tougher than Pac at 147. I don't know about Martinez at 150. It's at least a question (so better than any other alternative).

Is Floyd bigger? I haven't seen him as big as he was against Oscar since then. Against Ortiz he weighed in fight night at 150, that means he would come in around there against Martinez also. 154 would be nice to Martinez, but even at 150, Martinez will be having a huge advantage come fight night in terms of weight. He will probably be 15-16 pounds heavier than Floyd along with his speed and power. I just think Floyd knows that Martinez isn't a truly complete fighter, and that he can beat him.

Honestly even at @154 imo Floyd could win this.

Floyd has grown into more of a welterweight since he fought Oscar. He never was a smaller welterweight, but now he is a good size one. I don't actually think Sergio is that much bigger than Floyd. Sergio strikes me as an average-sized junior middleweight. He went up in weight for the money (Pavlik), but really he is a small middleweight. Macklin has said as much. Sergio really is like an inch or an inch and a half taller than Maywather. Sergio isn't truly a complete fighter, which is why it's so impressive that he's done what he's done. He didn't start boxing until 20. He wasn't in the Olympics. He's picked up a lot of what he's got in his thirties. In that respect, he's at a big disadvantage against somewhat like Floyd who has boxed since he was 10. It's why the majority of the time you can't just train an ex-college football player to be a boxer, it's a totally different skillset.

Back to the point, frankly, and I'm a big Sergio fan, I believe Floyd would beat Sergio, and that it would be a good, competitive fight to watch. I don't understand why Floyd wouldn't just face him at 154. It would help Sergio, sure, but I still favor Floyd by a little bit even at junior middleweight. Plus there is the risk that Sergio comes into the fight weight drained and that would tarnish the accomplishment of beating him.

Wonder what the haters will say if this one gets made?

Let me guess..it usually goes something like this. "Wellll..I'll believe it when they're in the ring together and the bell goes for round 1 - but if this fight happens I'll have nothing but respect for Floyd"

    Day after fight night...

"Man it was like Martinez grew old during the fight! Floyd never would have won against the Martinez that beat Paul Will..He needs to fight X, Y, Z if he ever wants to be considered great!"

Looks like they're getting ready to give Mackie-boy some step aside money..
He's full of shit. It's never going to happen.

We've been waiting since 2008 for Manny/Floyd. With how Floyd works, he'll be in the ring with Martinez in 2017 when Martinez is old as dirt.

As if Floyd gets younger as years go by.

Haha I've always said people act like Floyd goes back into his cryo chamber after a fight. You always hear that Floyds trying to wait until Pac is old and slower but Floyd is older? Funny people. People forget while discrediting Floyd for fighting Oscar and Shane after their primes that Floyd wasn't in his prime fighting them either. Nowhere near it. (Closer against Oscar but nowhere near as good as his younger days)
