Donaire comes off like a monster but I am beginning to wonder about his courage. I realize fighters are navigated but he talks the talk and doesn't walk the walk. Now that he is with Garcia, that is strike two. I can't see Vasquez beating Donaire after his performance against Arce. I'll say Donaire dominates him.

Chavez Jr. versus Rubio is very interesting. I think the Wild Card fighters are as protected as any but they made a mistake with Khan-Peterson one part of me thinks they might be repeating the mistake against Rubio. This is a hard fight to predict. I can see Jr. looking very good, or taking a beat down in later rounds. I am going to go with my first instinct, Jr. has improved enough to beat Rubio and too much has been made about the Lemieux fight because Lemieux was over rated.

Although not the main point of your post, how are wildcard fighters protected? Chavez Jr. is protected. Providnikov, Quillin, Khan, Pacquiao - how are they protected?

Donaire has some good wins on his record and some promotional issues marred his development for a bit. Let's see where he goes from here assuming he beats Vasquez Jr. It'll be a shame if he fights Arce next. If he takes on Nishioka, Rigondeaux, Gamboa, or John (I know long shot), he'll be doing exactly what he should be doing to earn respect.

I think Provodnikov is pretty new out there so I won't address him. You are right about Khan. I am impressed with his willingness to fight so I can't argue with you about him. Quillin, I think you know he has had an easy path and needs to step up. You didn't mention Kayode but I think he needs to step up. Martirosyan hasn't tested himself in recent fights. Chavez Jr. makes four I think have had it pretty easy and then there is Pacquiao, who used to take all comers but with Margarito and Mosley (and maybe now being a little reticent about Mayweather), that era may be ending (granted Marquez is always a bear so I am on thin ice) but I don't see Pac as a flat out warrior any more.

Since losing to Pavlik, Rubio has won 11 straight fights, 10 by KO, I figure Jr. is going to have his hands full Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, a good old Mexican shoot out.

Vazquez Jr. shouldn't be much of a problem for Donaire.

Glad box nation is showing JJC Jnr v Rubio and Donaire and Vasquez fight as well as the Cunningham v Hernandez fight this Saturday as I was beginning to regret subscribing to them with their endless repeats.

I see Rubio losing to JCC by controversial decision and Donaire stopping Vasquez.

Im looking forward to covering these 2 fights for my blog as they are the biggest fights of the year so far.

I think Chavez will win a decison , something like 116-112 although it will be interesting to see what happens if Rubio lands a big clean punch?

Regarding Donaire...a late stoppage win for Donaire afte an excellent fight. Vasquez is a good fight although Donaire is just better in every department.

Yup, the biggest fights of the year so far, and not on PPV.

I'm not sure if Julio Jr. has taken a flush shot from a guy who can punch, it would make my day to see Rubio flatten Jr..

Cunningham vs Hernandez is a Saturday afternoon fight here in the states, if nobody else does i'll start a fight thread if I can find a stream.

I'm glad Box Nation will be showing all those fights in the UK.

    cheers

BTW, "Rubio losing to JCC by controversial decision" is a good guess, I figure Rubio will just about need a KO to win this fight. Even though Rubio is also from Mexico, most of the crowd at the Alamodome in San Antonio, here in Texas will be cheering for Chavez Jr.

They showed the repeat of Cunningham v Hernandez, after that shaky 1st round Steve was going to win that fight. He should do it this time.

I just read on Dan Rafael's twitter, that Chavez Jr got popped for DUI just 2 weeks ago, and that he had to lose 8 pounds in the last 2 days.

    Bwahahahahaha!

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George buys woman's glasses.
