    Terrible fight really.

Vasquez hung tough with Donaire, can hold his head up high. Tough little bugger.
I really find myself at odds with the HBO crew. Aside from Merchant they all seem to find a testicle to hang from and kind of stick with it unless the fight is so one sided that they are forced to see it somewhat different.

I look at Lederman's scorecards and just shrug. I don't remember him being as off as he seems to be these days.

On the whole though I quite enjoyed the fights, but I didn't enjoy what they were saying. Steward is all over the place these days and seems to be forgetting how to finish a sentence that he starts.
They are bias to the point of it being sickening. They overly praise the house guy and don't want to give any credit at all to the underdog. In fact they often talk right over the parts of the fight where the underdog is having is greatest success.

Ledderman is absolutely useless, though he was somewhat fair in the Donaire fight.

I think Emmanuel Steward is just bored these days. He looks like he's ready to fall asleep watching ringside.

Great presentation, often great fights from HBO, but just terrible bias.

Yup, it was like Rubio wasn't even there and Julio Jr. is on his way to the BHOF with Daddy.

Junior says he wants to fight Sergio, if he can make the weight.

Sergio would Muller him. Donaire - Vasquez was a good fight. Chavez Jr - Rubio was beyond terrible. The coverage was amateurish and poor. I feel sorry for you guys in the states the TV companies over there seem to get away with a production that would struggle to make the grade on a local network over here.

How convenient is this, Chavez Jr didn't take the drug test after the fight, and the WBC conveniently states that they forgot to do the test.

Boxing - Team Rubio charges Chavez Jr. dodged doping test

Watching the replay Chavez was using that head like a damn ram, that elbow was a third fist for him.

HBO is and has been exceptionally biased for the longest. Its a borderline monopoly and why network-cable boxing MUST make a comeback. Irony that both "house" fighters looked bloated at least one or two weight divisions above.

WBC is saying that it isn't their job to handle drug tests; it's the job of the local commissions. According to the WBC, it is the fault of the Texas Commission.

    Is this true?

In defense of Chavez Jr., the Rubio win is a good win. I hate that he didn't take the post-fight drug tests because given his history in failing a drug test, it taints this win. However, if we give him the benefit of the doubt, a win over Rubio is arguably better thany any win Andy Lee or Dmitry Pirog have at this point. Right? This win makes Chavez Jr. a legitimate top ten middleweight. There can be no debate about it. Sergio Martinez, Gennady Golovkin and Dmitry Pirog would beat him. Felix Sturm probably has too much boxing ability for Chavez Jr. Sturm is now fighting Chavez Jr.'s leftovers in Zbik after Zbik turned down a fight with Proksa. I could see Chavez Jr. beating Lee and maybe Geale, not saying it would go that way, but I can see it. He may be too big for Proksa who is a smaller middleweight.

That's just what i'd expect the fucking crooks at the WBC to say, since the WBC may as well be considered part of team Chavez. Just haul ass back to Mexico without providing a urine sample, then blame it on the Texas Commission, brilliant.

That's all I needed.... another reason to dislike Chavez Jr. and his team even MORE. And Sulaiman continues to reach new depths in his sleazyness and stupidity. Is there no end to this circus? The "Coddled One" getting spoon-fed opponents, hopefully on his way to 100 chickenshet wins, with his overbearing daddy and corrupt countryman Sulaiman paving the way? What the f*ck is this? This is indefensible. It's so sad it's even funny in a sick, twisted way. Sulaiman should be forced to retire his sleazy ass.... and The Baby should be FORCED to start fighting meaningful opponents. But of course... that won't happen, because Sulaiman has an iron grip on the WBC.... and because Papa Chavez apparently has some clout with the promoters and the networks. And apparently they can get away with shet that the Average Joe can't. Pure bullsh*t.

Other than that I got no problem with it.

Not that i'm defending HBO, but come on Beanz, you've got some fucking clowns calling fights in the UK, I hardly see the boxing "productions" there being any better than what HBO, Showtime, or ESPN offer up.

    JCC Jnr 115 - 113 Rubio
    Donaire 119-109 Vasquez

Donaire is quality, speed and power!

That's about how I saw it too. I disagree with those on here who thought the Donaire fight was closer than Lederman called it. I thought he was actually kind to give round 5 to Vasquez, who did nothing but jab weakly and inconsistently the whole fight. I only gave him 6. That said, I expected more from Donaire.

I was not impressed by Chavez; even less by Rubio.

Maybe I am being a little harsh. Sure we have some poor commentators, but the tv production quality seems higher. Part of the problem is boxnation, as a fight fan I subscribe, but for UK fight fans the quality is not as high as other channels. No HD, poor anchor work, no boxer or ex boxer ringside or in the studio. I know the Rubio- Chavez Jr card had an ex boxer and the colonel st ringside but for me they kinda sucked. Horses for courses, and one mans sugar us another mans salt but I always feel kinda Sold short by US tv coverage of big fights.

you must have seen the TOP RANK coverage for the fight cause HBO called it mainstream, they were biased as hell but yet so are some of the Brit commentators, most notable in Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye, and Froch fights, IMO guys like Al Bernstein are top notch
