I hate sounding so negative but is anyone considering the poundage Gamboa is packing on here and how it negates that speed. Rios will come in unofficially well above 135 as hes appeared, check the handle bars, this will be a literal catchweight fight and personally I think Rios walks through a guy who can't afford to make as many mistakes as the sponge that is Rios and Gamboa hasn't fielded anything close to a legit lightweight punch yet. I think their kinda just serving up Gamboa and his noteriety here.

That said, I hope Rios gets ktfo. Just sayin

i kinda feel the same way, but IMO if Gamboa can keep his speed and power, and uses his movement he can easily pick Rios apart

This is my view as well, including the hope that Rios gets KTFO. That happening depends entirely on him hurting himself to make weight, IMO, which is of course a very real possibility. I still think neither of these guys belongs at 135. Gamboa should be at 130 at most and Rios should definitely be at 140, if not WW.

I really like Gamboa though and this would be huge for him if he pulled it off.

    Makes sense.

What did Gamboa weigh for his last fight at the actual fight? Maybe he weighs 130-135 generally for his featherweight fights, and he'll just not have to pay any attention to the weight during camp?

I would have preferred Gamboa had 2 fights to get adjusted to Emmanual Steward before gaining some pounds and fighting a heavier guy. Great head movement, but he has a habit of sitting in the pocket for a second or two and trying to slug with guys to make things exciting. Lets just hope he knows the difference a few pounds can make and puts on a boxing clinic first and slugs after Rios is wobbled/spent. Rios has a strap but as a guy of limited skill, he really doesn't have much to lose in terms of losing a fight to gamboa and what it means in terms of his longevity. He can lose and still live off a diet of bums he can walk down, margarito style, and still be paid.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Not that it matters, but Rios doesn't have a strap. He lost it for failing to make weight in his last fight. He's too big for the division, and Gamboa's too small.

Rios would batter Gamboa at 135.

I hope Gamboa wins but Rios' size might be too much of an advantage. I'm still picking Gamboa's skill and speed to win him this one.

Rios is a very strong fighter but he will be out boxed by Gamboa, as I feel he is a superstar in the making
I can see Gamboa busting him up.

Best route for Gamboa may be to fight as he had in second of Salido fight, box off and not looking to make this the shoot out early everyone wants. Do some of what Acosta did with rolling shots under, bit awkward, but with better hand speed and some pop. Acosta had some good spots of punching in between Rios patterns and buzzed him before the ceiling caved in.

Gamboa has no stamina issues, the cuban prodigy will dance all night around Rios and transform his face into a meat pie. We'll have 2-3 little "scares" for Gamboa as Rios is the hell of a bully but in the end, the cuban Samba will prevail.

Gamboa has been fighting at 126. He is now going to face a guy at 135 who should be at 140 and is the biggest lightweight I can recall.

Gamboa is very good but that is a bad recipe to me.
